New Flagship from Dell - XPS 730 H2C Gaming Station

Dell has raised the performance bar once again with the launch of the XPS 730 H2C edition, a premier gaming desktop that Dell says is "one of the most advanced gaming platforms on the planet". Available in two models - air-cooled XPS 730 (starting at $3,999) and water-cooled XPS 730 H2C (starting at $4,999) - both systems offer the new NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset, optional factory-overclocked Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, Corsair DOMINATORTM DDR3 memory and up to four hard drives in RAID array. Graphics options include the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 in four-way CrossFireX or NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT in SLI. All this is sold in a 2.4mm anodized aluminum chassis available in Victory Red and Stealth Blue or brushed aluminum in Silver on the air-cooled XPS 730. Each case comes with a 1kW 80PLUS power supply and can be configured with an optional X-View clear side panel. The water-cooled version of XPS 730 is also enhanced. Originally co-developed by Dell, Intel, Delphi and CoolIT, it now features redesigned CPU coldplate, added block for the chipset, dynamic speed control for the pump and fans and a separate fan for the CPU's voltage regulator components.

Been a good comp. I got it due to moving to the US and not knowing were i could get a comp from and found DELL to be the cheapest at that time. O yeah and it was only $500 as they knocked $400 for the sale they were having.

Can you oc a dell? I thought they were locked. If so, whats the point of water cooling? An extra $1000 for peace of mind your temps are cooler than before?

They use the 790i chipset, that doesn't mean its the same as a retail 790i. I'm sure its a dell mb, and most of those don't support user oc I don't think. You might be able to unlock it though.

Why would Dell put these out? They own Alienware  I guess Dell thinks thier name will bring out the gamers. It sounds like an AW but with different casing and different surname. Same crap~ your purchase gets you an Over Priced Name!

Pretty nice coming from Dell, I just think that I would rather build my own, but the styling of the case is really cool!

I saw in the Dell ad that gets mailed to my house that these systems are able to be overclocked yourself as well. The bios doesnt seem to be locked which would allow you to go even further. However, past a certain point you aren't covered by Dell's warranty.

pentastar111Yes it does.
Being more specific, a 790i that runs crossfire? Is there something we missed?

I would like to get my hands on that TEC watercooler that it has. If i was a rich business exec that didn't have time to build and mess around with my own pc i would probably just buy one of those if money was no object :P

Maybe they swap the board if you choose Crossfire. Like if you get two HD 3870's you get a X48 and a 780i with two 8800's.
