Xilinx Collaborates with Fujitsu to Support 5G Deployments in the US

Valve Ordered to Pay 4 Million USD in Damages to Corsair over Steam Controller Patent Infringement

Valve has recently been ordered to pay 4 million USD in damages after they knowingly infringed on patents owned by Ironburg Inventions with the Steam Controller rear grip button design. Ironburg Inventions is the IP-holding arm of controller manufacturer SCUF who was acquired by Corsair in late 2019. Valve was warned by Ironburg Inventions in 2014 that their Steam Controller infringed on their patent relating to rear-side control surfaces. Valve ignored the warning and went on to produce 1.6 million units before discontinuing the device in 2019. The Jury awarded Ironburg Inventions 4 million USD in damages and found that Valve willfully infringed on Ironberg's patents which opens them up to further litigation. Despite AMD Momentum, Intel Claws Back Market Share in Both Desktop and Mobile

AMD's CPU offerings are generally considered to best Intel's competition, especially since the company's Zen 3, Ryzen-5000 series of CPUs launched to great critical and customer acclaim. However, silicon performance can only get you so far - one other issue impacting market penetration is availability of said processors. As AMD fights for constrained wafer supply from TSMC - in no small part due to their focusing of their entire portfolio on the company's highly-sought 7 nm process - users worldwide are generally seeing insufficient stocks of AMD silicon to satisfy their needs. And as such, it seems that at least some users are going with Intel solutions, due to their higher availability in the market.

According to a report from Mercury Research, AMD's constrained chip supply has led the company to a market share loss QoQ. AMD's desktop penetration fell from 20.1% to 19.3% in a single quarter, and its mobile market share saw a similar decrease, going from a 20.1% share down to 19.1%. Of course, not only from market share and shipments are a company's financials made of; AMD ushered in higher ASP (Average Selling Price) for its products, leading the company to a 50% increase in YoY revenue. This doesn't mean AMD is selling less CPUs, however; the x86 CPU market grew a massive 20.1% YoY, so AMD is actually shipping more product than in previous years - it just couldn't account for the entirety of that x86 market increase. Overall, and considering AMD's desktop, mobile, and server markets, the company's x86 market share decreased by 0.7% in Q4 2020 to 21.7% - still a very significant increase, YoY, from its previous 15.5% of the market pie.

Sony Confirms It's Selling PS5 Consoles Below Manufacturing Cost, Ships 4.5 Million Units

Sony has confirmed that it is paying some of the upfront cost in acquiring their latest PS5 games console by pricing it below manufacturing cost. Consoles being priced as such isn't a new move in itself; manufacturers have often sold their consoles at a loss so as to keep consoles attractive to buyers and thus increase their install base. This, in turn, equates with higher sales of software - which is often where Sony or Microsoft recoup their margin loss on hardware.

Sony has also confirmed that its PS5 console has sold around 4.5 million units since launch, putting it in a similar footing with the PS4 in the corresponding period, despite the higher retail price at launch. The sales figure also puts Sony's PlayStation division results for 2020's Q3 FY as their historical best ever since the company started selling games consoles. Revenue increased 40 percent to 883.2 billion yen ($8.4 billion), partly driven by PS5 sales, whilst operating profit increased by 50 percent to 80.2 billion yen ($763.3 million) due to higher software and services sales (such as PlayStation Plus subscriptions), and better margins on PS4 hardware, which still shipped around 1.4 million units.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Arrives May 14

BioWare, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. today revealed that the Mass Effect Legendary Edition will launch May 14 worldwide on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition features the single-player base content and 40+ downloadable content (DLC) story, weapons and armor packs from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 and will allow players to relive the legend of Commander Shepard in 4K Ultra HD with HDR.

DigiTimes: DDR3 Prices to Soar 40-50% in 2021

Yes, you are reading that title correctly. Today we got ahold of information that DDR3 prices are going to skyrocket by as much as 40-50% this year! Despite DDR4 being present for seven years (since 2014), which is a lot in the world of tech, DDR3 is still thriving. Used in a wide range of devices like IoT, older servers, and long time running machines that need maintenance for decades. The DDR3 has been manufactured by SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron, however, as technology moved on, these companies began the migration to the newer DDR4 standard. Even DDR5 exists today and it is currently manufactured.

So why is DDR3 soaring in value? It is because of the increased scarcity of this memory. SK Hynix has stopped the production of 2 Gb modules, leaving only the 4 Gb modules in production. Samsung has cut down the capacity from 60,000 wafers of DDR3 memory modules per month to just 20,000. This has caused the price of 2 Gb and 4 Gb modules to rise already as much as 30%. Despite the age of 14 years, DDR3 is still widely used in many systems. And because of that, the scarcity is making the price of the current memory increase. The price is expected to rise through the whole year and it could reach a 50% increase.

Today, thanks to Tom Looman, a game developer working with Unreal Engine, we have found out just how the integration process of DLSS 2.0 looks like, and how big are the performance benefits coming from it.

The integration with Unreal Engine 4.26 is easy, as it just requires that you compile your project with a special UE4 RTX branch, and you need to apply your AppID which you can apply for at NVIDIA's website. Right now you are probably wondering how is performance looking like. Well, the baseline for the result was TXAA sampling techniques used in the game demo. The DLSS 2.0 has managed to bring anywhere from 60-180% increase in frame rate, depending on the scene. Oculus Launches App Lab as an Official Alternative to The Oculus Store

The Oculus Store is the primary way to purchase and download content on Oculus Quest devices. The Oculus Store features a limited library of highly curated content making it difficult for smaller less-polished games to join the platform, users previously had to use programs like SideQuest to get around these restrictions and install such programs. Oculus has recently announced the App Lab as a home for this content, the introduction of App Lab will allow users to access experimental, beta, and niche content through an official program. Oculus also announced that third-party distribution such as through SideQuest will be officially supported. Jeff Bezos Steps Down as Amazon CEO, AWS Head Andy Jassy to Take Over

In a move comparable to that of Bill Gates and Brin & Page disconnecting themselves from micro-managing the companies they co-founded; Jeff Bezos announced stepping down as CEO of Amazon. He has handed over reins of the company to Andy Jassy, who heads Amazon Web Services (AWS). He "leaves" Amazon as a corporate colossus, valued at $1.6 trillion. Bezos will remain as the Executive Chair of Amazon. He stated that he will remain "engaged in important Amazon initiatives." In this regard, Bezos's retirement from the CEO's chair looks like a cross between the lives of Bill Gates and Elon Musk.

AMD EPYC "Milan" Processors Pricing and Specifications Leak

AMD is readying its upcoming EPYC processors based on the refined Zen 3 core. Starting from the cheapest design listed here (many are missing here), you would be looking at the EPYC 7543 processor with 32 cores running at 2.8 GHz speed, 256 MB of L3 cache, and a TDP of 225 Watts. Such a processor will set you back as much as 2579.69 CAD, which is cheaper compared to the previous generation EPYC 7542 that costs 3214.70 CAD.

Whatever this represents more aggressive pricing to position itself better against the competition, we do not know. The same strategy is applied with the 64 core AMD EPYC 7763 processor (2.45 GHz speed, 256 MB cache, 280 W TDP) as the new Zen 3 based design is priced at 8069.69 CAD, which is cheaper than the 8180.10 CAD price tag of AMD EPYC 7762 CPU.

XFX Radeon RX 6800 QICK 319 Graphics Card Pictured

Here's the first picture of the XFX Radeon RX 6800 QICK 319 custom-design "Big Navi" graphics card. As of this writing, the card doesn't feature on XFX website, but was discovered by Paweł Maziarz, who compared it to the RX 6800 MERC 319. A Swedish retailer has the card listed for 8,990 SEK (around $1,070 USD), including taxes. At first glance, the QICK 319 looks identical to the MERC 319, until you pay attention to the cooler shroud, particularly its top edge. The large, trapezium-shaped protrusion of the cooler shroud, which holds an illuminated "Radeon RX 6800" logo on the MERC 319, is gone. Another parallelogram-shaped protrusion near the power connectors, is removed.

These should allow the heatsink to vent out more freely. Also, the XFX logo at the edge of the card, near the power connectors, isn't illuminated. These changes, particularly the cost-cutting with the XFX logo, point to the likelihood of the QICK 319 being positioned a notch below the MERC 319, despite having a more free-breathing cooler; and one area where XFX could differentiate the two cards is the factory-overclock, which could be slightly lower than the MERC 319. It remains to be seen if XFX designs QICK 319 products based on the higher RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT.

EIZO Releases Rugged XMC GPGPU Card for Media Applications

EIZO Rugged Solutions Inc., a provider of ruggedized graphics and video products, has released the Condor NVP2009AxX - an XMC graphics and GPGPU card that supports various combinations of analog and digital outputs.

The new high-performance graphics card based on the NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU (chip-down GP107) supports four field customizable video output combinations of DisplayPort++, 3G-SDI, CVBS (NTSC/PAL/SECAM), and VGA (STANAG 3350, RS-170, RS-343) to provide flexibility and simplify inventory management for high-end surveillance customers. With multiple I/O configurations, the card can support a range of video resolutions up to 4K and custom resolutions under VGA configurations. It can be factory configured to customer specifications and/or field programmed to support complex, multi-video needs after deployment.

NVIDIA GeForce Now Gains Support for Google Chrome & Apple M1 Devices

Nintendo Switch On Track To Become One Of The Best Selling Game Consoles Of All Time

The Nintendo Switch was announced by Nintendo in October 2016 before releasing worldwide in March 2017. The hybrid console has been well-received and is now on track to become one of if not the best selling console of all time. Nintendo recently revealed during a financial report that the console had sold 79.87 million units after 46 months on the market. This compares favorably with the PS4 at ~67 million, the PS2 at ~69.5 million, and the Wii at ~75 million units at 46 months after their releases. When compared to Nintendo's other consoles only the DS manages to outsell the Switch at ~83 million units sold 46 months after release. The Nintendo Switch has eclipsed the Wii U in sale numbers which only reached ~13.3 million.

In Win Rolls Out White Variant of the 216 Case, with a Touch of Woodgrain

In Win introduced a new variant of the 216 mid-tower case released back in Spring 2020. The new variant sees white overall, with a touch of woodgrain replacing the brushed-aluminium element on the original black 216. A strip of woodgrain material forms a corner accent along the case's front-left corner. The left side-panel remains tinted tempered glass, which looks brighter due to the case's all-white interiors. Intel "Alder Lake-P" Mobile Processor with 14 Cores (6 Big + 8 Little) Geekbenched

An Intel 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake-P" sample surfaced on the Geekbench online results database. The "Alder Lake" microarchitecture introduces heterogenous multi-core to the desktop platform, following its long march from Arm big.LITTLE in 2013, through to laptops with Intel's "Lakefield" in 2019. Intel will build both desktop- and mobile processors using the microarchitecture. The concept is unchanged from big.LITTLE. A processor has two kinds of cores—performance and low-power. Under lower processing loads, the low-power cores are engaged, and the performance cores are only woken up as needed. In theory, this brings about tremendous energy-efficiency gains, as the low-power cores operate within a much higher performance/Watt band than the high-performance cores.

The "Alder Lake" silicon features two kinds of cores—eight "Golden Cove" performance cores, and eight "Gracemont" low-power cores. The "Golden Cove" cores can be configured with HyperThreading (2 logical processors per core). Intel's product managers can create multiple combinations of performance and low-power cores, to achieve total core counts of up to 16, and logical processor counts of up to 24. This also warrants close attention to the composition of the core types, beyond an abstract core-count. A 14-core processor with 6 performance- and 8 low-power cores will perform vastly different from a 14-core processor with 8 performance- and 6 low-power cores. One way to derive core counts is by paying attention to the logical processor (thread) counts, as only the performance "Golden Cove" cores support HTT.

Google Halts Stadia First-Party Game Studio to Focus on Stadia as a Platform

Google late Monday announced that it is halting investments into Stadia Games & Entertainment (SG&E), its internal division tasked with the development of first-party games and content for the game streaming platform. The company announced that it will continue to invest in Stadia, including its further development, as a platform for third-party game studios, pointing users to the recent success of "Cyberpunk 2077" on the platform. Jade Raymond, the head of SG&E, has left the company.

Google reiterated that it sees streaming as the future of gaming. "Having games streamed to any screen is the future of this industry, and we'll continue to invest in Stadia and its underlying platform to provide the best cloud gaming experience for our partners and the gaming community," it stated in a blog post announcing these changes. The company also assured subscribers that it will continue to bring new games and content from third-party game developers. "You can continue playing all your games on Stadia and Stadia Pro, and we'll continue to bring new titles from third parties to the platform. We're committed to the future of cloud gaming, and will continue to do our part to drive this industry forward. Our goal remains focused on creating the best possible platform for gamers and technology for our partners, bringing these experiences to life for people everywhere," it stated.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.2.1

AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin drivers. Version 21.2.1 beta comes with optimization for "Medium," with a 9% performance increase at 4K measured using an RX 6800 XT graphics card, over the previous driver. A number of bugs and issues are also addressed. To begin with stuttering noticed on certain RX Vega series graphics cards at high refresh rates. A screen flickering observed with MSI Afterburner has been fixed. A bug that caused recording and streaming with Radeon Software, on Radeon HD 7800 series GPUs, has been fixed. A rendering error with SketchUp on RDNA GPUs has been fixed. Samsung CRG9 displays waking up from screen to black screens, has been fixed. Application crashes with "Metro Exodus" with DXR enabled, have been fixed. Video playback on other displays in a multi-display setup, during "Doom Eternal" gameplay on one of the displays, experiences stutter, which has been fixed.

SilverStone Launches Budget-Minded, 80-Plus Bronze ET500-ARGB PSU

SilverStone has added a new budget option to its lineup, whilst keeping it hip by integrating an ARGB fan (120 mm rated at 18 dBA, with dynamic speeds according to PSU load). There are 17 separate lighting effects available to be cycled at the touch of a button on the PSU's back panel. The new ET500-ARGB PSU features a 500 W output capacity with 80-Plus Bronze efficiency levels. The PSU features a + 12 V single rail design, with a maximum output of 38 A. As it is a budget PSU, there's no place for modular cabling here; the cables that do exist, however, all feature a flat design for easier cable management. The ET500-ARGB offers 1x ATX 24-pin, 1x CPU 8-pin, 1x CPU 4 + 4 pin, 2x PCI-Express 6 + 2 pins, 3x 4-pin, and 4x SATA outputs, which should be enough for budget-minded users.

Colorful Announces GeForce RTX 3070 Neptune Graphics Card: Integrated AIO

Colorful has announced an expanded addition to its Neptune lineup of AIO, water-cooled graphics cards in the form of the RTX 3070. Previously, the company only offered Neptune versions of its RTX 3090; and the company seems to have prioritized the GeForce RTX 3070 instead of the RTX 3080 as its next graphics card to receive the integrated watercooling solution.

Like the RTX 3090 Neptune, the RTX 3070 Neptune features RGB lighting on its central core fan that delivers RGB illumination - fully customizable via the iGame Center App. It's a 2-slot graphics card that comes with its own 240 mm radiator, with a dual 120 mm silent fan configuration for heat dissipation purposes. The Colorful RTX 3070 Neptune features a 14 + 4 phase power supply circuit that's kept fed by a 3x 8-pin power delivery subsystem, and keeps the "One-Key OC" capability that's materialized in a bracket button that overclocks the card automagically. The card features a Base clock of 1,500 MHz and Boost clock 1,725 MHz, elevated by the One-Key OC functionality to 1,845 MHz. I/O is assured by 1x HDMI and 3x DisplayPort. TDP for the card is rated at 270 W; size is 295 mm long, 150 mm wide and 42 mm thick, while the radiator stands at 118 mm wide, 271 mm deep and 53 mm thick.

AMD Reportedly in Plans to Outsource Partial Chip Production to Samsung

It's been doing the rounds in the rumor mill that AMD is looking to expand its semiconductor manufacturing partners beyond TSMC (for the 7 nm process and eventually 5 nm) and Global Foundries (12 nm process used in its I/O dies). The intention undoubtedly comes from the strain that's being placed on TSMC's production lines, as most foundry-less businesses outsource their wafer production to the Taiwanese companies' factories and manufacturing processes, which are currently the industry's best. However, as we've seen, TSMC is having a hard time scaling its production facilities to the unprecedented demand it's seeing from its consumers. The company also has recently announced it may prioritize new manufacturing capabilities for the automotive industry, which is also facing shortages in chips - and that certainly doesn't instill confidence in capacity increases for its non-automotive clients.

That's what originated form the rumor mill. Speculating, this could mean that AMD would be looking to outsource products with generally lower ASP to Samsung's foundries, instead of trying to cram even more silicon manufacturing onto TSMC's 7 nm process (where it already fabricates its Zen 3, RDNA 2, EPYC, and custom silicon solutions for latest-gen consoles). AMD might thus be planning on leveraging Samsung's 8 nm or even smaller fabrication processes as alternatives for, for example, lower-than-high-end graphics solutions and other product lines (such as APUs and FPGA production, should its acquisition of Xilinx come through).

Cincoze Unveils GeForce RTX 30-series and Quadro T1000-series MXM Upgrade Cards

Cincoze, a professional manufacturer of embedded systems, expands the Cincoze GM-1000's machine vision application performance with two new Quadro MXM GPU modules. Building on the GM-1000's powerful processing base, the MXM-RTX3000 and MXM-T1000 provide the additional GPU capacity for rapid adoption of machine vision in smart factories, from simple environmental perception applications such as positioning, measurement, identification, and sorting, to more complex vision-guided automation functions. Intel Xe DG1 SDV PCB Pictured, Looks Desolate

Here are some of the first pictures of the Intel Xe DG1 SDV, taken apart to reveal its rather desolate PCB. The Xe DG1 SDV isn't commercially available, but rather distributed by Intel to ISVs, so they can begin optimizing or developing for the Gen12 Xe graphics architecture. The board features a GPU ASIC that's nearly identical to the Iris Xe MAX mobile discrete GPUs, and four LPDDR4 memory chips making up 8 GB of video memory.

The Xe DG1 GPU is based on the Xe LP graphics architecture, and the silicon is built on the 10 nm SuperFin silicon fabrication node. The chip features 96 execution units (768 unified shaders); and apparently makes do with the 75 W power supplied by the PCI-Express slot. A frugal 2-phase VRM powers the GPU. The GPU uses conventional 4-pin PWM to control the fan, which ventilates a simple aluminium mono-block heatsink. Three DisplayPorts and one HDMI 2.1 make up the output configuration. While you won't be able to buy a Xe DG1 SDV in the market (unless an ISV decides to break their NDA and put one up on eBay), Intel has allowed a small number of board partners to develop custom-design cards. GALAX Shows Off GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) Edition Graphics Card

GALAX has today decided to take the lid off its upcoming premium GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) edition graphics card and showcase to the world what the company has been working on. The HOF edition is usually GALAX's highest-end custom graphics card design with one simple goal - ultimate performance. Featuring all-white aesthetics, the card has a 12-layer white PCB with a white three fan air cooler. The air cooler features three fans with one in the middle being 92 mm and the other two being 102 mm. The card comes paired with HOF Panel III, representing a small 4.3 inch LCD screen that can stand on its own or stick to the GPU using magnets. It is used for some software diagnostics like temperature monitoring.

The GPU comes with a diamond-shaped aluminium backplate used for additional heat dissipation. When it comes to power delivery, there are three 8-pin connectors (also colored in white to match the aesthetics), that supply 26 VRM phases for the power delivery system. Such configuration is envisioned for extreme overclocking purposes like LN2. There are two BIOS versions, P and S variants, where they are used for maximum performance or quieter operation respectively. The boost frequency of this GPU is 1875 MHz (using one-click OCing), however, any buyer of such a card is not going to just use it like that and will probably prefer to push higher frequencies.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Confirmed to Feature 12 GB GDDR6 Memory

AMD is slowly preparing to launch its next-generation of mid-range graphics cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture. Following the launch of Navi 21 GPU SKUs, next in line comes the slower Navi 22 variant with fewer compute units (CU). Envisioned to compete against NVIDIA's GA104 and GA106 GPU SKUs, the Navi 22 based GPU is targeting 1440p gamers mainly. Today, thanks to Andreas Schilling from the German website HardwareLuxx, we got a few pieces of information regarding AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card. The source is claiming that we are getting this card sometime in the first half of this year, with the possibility to get it in Q1.

The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card is designed for 1440p gaming as mentioned, and its VRAM configuration is interesting. It features 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, which is more than enough for the types of workloads this card is meant for. The memory communicates using 192-bit bus. The Navi 22 GPU is configured for 40 CUs in total, with 2560 cores maximum. The Radeon RX 6700 XT features the Navi 22 XT variant with the fully enabled die, while its smaller brother Radeon RX 6700 is featuring Navi 22 XL die that has possibly fewer CUs and smaller TDP. The pricing of the upcoming cards is unknown.

NVIDIA "GA106" Ampere GPU Pictured

The "GA106" will be NVIDIA's third GeForce "Ampere" silicon, following the "GA102" and "GA104." It will power several mid-range GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards, including the recently announced GeForce RTX 3060. VideoCardz scored the first picture of the "GA106" ASIC. The chip is estimated to have a die-are of 272 mm², while its package (fiberglass substrate) is of the same size as the "GA104," possibly even with some degree of pin-compatibility.

Built on the 8 nm silicon fabrication process, the "GA106" physically features 3,840 "Ampere" CUDA cores, 120 3rd Gen Tensor cores, and 30 2nd Gen RT cores. Its memory bus width is unknown, but on the RTX 3060, it features a 192-bit wide interface, holding 12 GB of memory, using 16 Gbit GDDR6 memory chips. Besides the RTX 3060, NVIDIA is expected to carve out other SKUs, such as the RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050, out of this silicon. The "GA106" could also be prominently featured in upcoming RTX 30-series Mobile SKUs.

Thermaltake Intros UX210 ARGB Tower-Type CPU Cooler

Thermaltake today released to market the UX210 ARGB, a slim tower-type CPU cooler. Designed for thermal loads of up to 150 W, the cooler features a conventional-design aluminium fin-stack heatsink, ventilated by a 120 mm fan. Five 6 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes make contact with the CPU over a mirror-finish nickel-plated copper base; conveying heat through an aluminium fin-stack, which is ventilated by a fan.

The 120 mm fan included with the Thermaltake UX210 ARGB takes in 4-pin PWM for its main function, and 3-pin ARGB for its lighting. It features a 30,000-hour rated hydraulic bearing, spins between 600 to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 72.3 CFM of air, with a static pressure of up to 2.31 mm H₂O, and a noise output of up to 34.3 dBA. With its fan in place, the cooler measures 136 mm x 74 mm x 153 mm (WxDxH). Among the CPU socket types supported are AM4, LGA1200, LGA115x, and LGA2066. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Synology Inc. today unveiled the next generation of RackStation units that support its highly successful backup, virtualization storage, surveillance, and remote work solutions. In a company first, it also announced the release of its HAT5300 series of high-performance enterprise hard drives specially engineered for Synology deployments.

The 2U 12-bay RS3621RPxs and RS3621xs+, and the 3U 16-bay RS4021xs+ are designed for SMBs that require high-performance general-purpose storage. Synology's newest devices provide a reliable platform for data-intensive applications such as large-scale backup, ISCSi SAN storage, on-premises collaboration solutions, and video surveillance deployments.

QNAP Announces TL SAS 12Gb/s JBOD Series

QNAP Systems, Inc.today announced the TL SAS storage enclosures, including the 12-bay TL-R1220Sep-RP and 16-bay TL-R1620Sep-RP models, which support storage expansion for Windows servers. The TL SAS JBOD supports SAS 12 Gbps transmission, delivering up to 96 Gbps transfer speed and supporting Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization and multipath routing (Multipath I/O, MPIO). Users can daisy-chain multiple JBODs to expand capacity or divide one JBOD into multiple zones, providing a key solution for massive storage with high-performance, high-capacity, and high storage utilization.

The TL SAS JBOD is powered by a SAS35x28R / SAS35x36R SAS Expander with four SAS wide ports each combining four 12 Gbps SAS lanes. By configuring two wide ports with link aggregation, transfer speeds can reach 96 Gb/s. Featuring Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology, the TL SAS JBOD features an intelligent data buffer for transferring data to drives at speeds that match the performance of the host server, allowing users to benefit from high-speed 12 Gb/s SAS transmission with existing 6 Gb/s infrastructure. If the host Windows server supports multipath routing (Multipath I/O, MPIO), high availability can be achieved. If one route fails, another transmission route can be used to access the data and ensure continuous system operations. The TL SAS JBOD also supports SAS zoning technology, allowing one JBOD to serve as storage expansion for up to four Windows servers.

Western Digital Corp. (Nasdaq: WDC) today reported fiscal second quarter 2021 financial results. In the fiscal second quarter of 2021, Western Digital's revenue decreased 7% year-over-year to $3.9 billion. The decrease is largely attributable to a decline in our Data Center Devices & Solutions end market, more than offsetting growth in Client Devices and Client Solutions.
