The Intel Core i3-N305 is a mobile processor with 8 cores, launched in January 2023, at an MSRP of $309. It is part of the Core i3 lineup, using the Alder Lake-N architecture with BGA 1264. Core i3-N305 has 6 MB of L3 cache and operates at 100 MHz by default, but can boost up to 3.8 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is building the Core i3-N305 on a 10 nm production process, the transistor count is unknown. The multiplier is locked on Core i3-N305, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 15 W, the Core i3-N305 consumes very little energy. Intel's processor supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory with a single-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 4800 MT/s. For communication with other components in the computer, Core i3-N305 uses a PCI-Express Gen 3 connection. This processor features the UHD Graphics 770 integrated graphics solution.
Hardware virtualization is available on the Core i3-N305, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Additionally, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, so that guest virtual machines may directly use host hardware. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) will run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications. Besides AVX, Intel is including the newer AVX2 standard, too, but not AVX-512.
