The Intel Core M-5Y31 is a mobile processor with 2 cores, launched in October 2014. It is part of the Core M lineup, using the Broadwell-Y architecture with BGA 1234. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 4 threads. Core M-5Y31 has 4 MB of L3 cache and operates at 900 MHz by default, but can boost up to 2.4 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is making the Core M-5Y31 on a 14 nm production node, the transistor count is unknown. The multiplier is locked on Core M-5Y31, which limits its overclocking potential. With a TDP of 5 W, the Core M-5Y31 consumes extremely little energy. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory. This processor features the Intel HD 5300 integrated graphics solution. Hardware virtualization is available on the Core M-5Y31, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications.
