The Intel Core i5-2540M was a mobile processor with 2 cores, launched in February 2011. It is part of the Core i5 lineup, using the Sandy Bridge architecture with BGA 1023. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 4 threads. Core i5-2540M has 3 MB of L3 cache and operates at 2.6 GHz. Intel is making the Core i5-2540M on a 32 nm production node using 624 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Core i5-2540M, which limits its overclocking potential.
