I completely understand where you are coming from on this one.....however (you just knew there was going to be a "but"), using your theory, which I happen to agree with, who pays for all your public services, education (and in the UK, we have free healthcare) etc etc.
Me, or at the lower level, the community pools together to pay for a ROAD... or a School.

The constituion is written that these things are powers of the STATE, and that the federal government is involved at all shows that it's been taken over by thugs. (whom, for the most part, have been DEMOCRATS since the great depression ...):banghead:

Slight correction, the most right president the French chose is Sarkozy. Also I didnt hear anything negative about Sarkozy, at least not something that really matters.

Also if Pim Fortuijn didnt get killed by some nice activist, he might have become the president of The Netherlands. He was pretty right yet not nationalistic.
That indeed would have been good... wasn't it a muslim terrorist who killed him? By the way, I'm 1/2 dutch by nationality. My grandmother was first generation born here on my fathers side. The other half of me is Irish Catholic.... makes for some fun family reunions!
Also, it's hard to get right winged governments. There was a slight lack off it after the 2nd WW (why I dont know, Nazi's actually were still left winged but they call it right winged). Left winged parties and/or central parties were chosen all the time. Right winged people got fed up with it, children of them go nuts over it + nowadays fuck ups from foreign people and go extremist which at the same time shows to most voters right wing is still bad:wtf:.

Also, from Blair's past, I think it isnt worth a crap what UK/UK politics like since he liked Bush as well.
The only thing you europeans have against bush is the whole iraq thing, and I don't think anyone has the whole story...... or ever will.... Thatcher all the way!
Yes I got that the first time, yet 50% of earlier named things from me are NOT the past but current. So while you disapprove Obama's choise of taxes because it would be unfair or stealing, your current government and McCain would continue to do the exact same thing. Not to American people, but to the rest of the world.
McCains policies call for a reduction over the next 5 years or so of over 600 billion dollars (as another previously posted here...). Over the same time, Obama would RAISE them by nearly 800billion, while adding 1Trillion in socialist programs... So, there is nearly 1.5 TRILLION dollar difference in their policies.... just from the TAX perspective...

Well, I think I pretty much explained it in one sentence already. Succes depends on what point of view. Although I'd love to have 10mil Euro's, you can still live royally from 20K Euro/year earnings from work, so what does this 10M Euro buffer add to my succes?
What does it add? The ability for you to do whatever you wish, for your self and your family. The ability, if you choose, to FREELY GIVE as much of that money as you like to any charity, cause, or endeavor that you choose. High taxation is a key reason that PRIVATE CHARITY donations are down, around the world...

No of course the other guy does not have the right to go whine for your money, I never said that and Im against that.
But they do, and the politicians hear them, and say "hmmm, look 10% of the people feel that way, and if I take some money from this 1% over here they might not notice, and those 10% will vote for me!"
Well, that's true. But then again such people generally dont get a lot of support anyway ( if the choice for the 3 babies and to drop out of school was really her free choice that is).
Here in the USA over 90% of the people living in "poverty" have big screen televisions, cellphones, and cars... some even own houses! How is that poverty? Because the government says so, and they're on the dole.

That's very true. But although I love drugs, people using it cant only hurt them selves but also others. That's why it's forbidden as well.
That is not at all why it's "forbidden". it's forbidden because someone chooses to enforce THEIR particular morality on someone else... Drugs don't harm "others" any more than beer does, unless you mean the "harm" they cause to a nationalized health system by draining away funds that could be used to treat a grandmother with cancer....

Ive said it lots of times in RL especially, humanity is not made for liberty/freedom. I think the most perfect way would be as in Brave New World, but it's impossible to get that going in anyway. It sounds damn awefull at some points, but just because the people dont know better no one knows how it would be different.
Not true at all, but when you give a group the power to vote themselves largess from the public purse, you're setting everything up for failure... There is no such thing as GOVERNMENT MONEY... The government has to go and TAKE IT from others...

It's not the point who said that Democrats and Socialists were the same, some people here said Obama is a socialist, meaning people have no clue what socialism is about.
it's not the party but the philosophise that make the man a socialist.
Also I think there's not a lot of right to crap over ACORN, as far it's true in the first place, since our lovely Bush didnt get in his office very clean. Also Palin forms actually quite some danger with her extremist God stuff. I dont see a lot of differences between her and general Middle East religious leaders:banghead:
there is a lot more to this ACORN stuff than the general media are letting hit the air...
And, well, you see, Palin and her religious upbringing don't scare me one whit... because the socialist left are also friends of the atheists, and have therefore been STRONG SUPPORTERS of the separation of church and state. in fact, it seems some times that it's the only part of the constitution that they stand on!

Our country (Netherlands) is sick with taxes too. But we've right now a labor party in the government and as well the economic minister is from that party, go figure:wtf: But Norwegian etc seem to have massive taxes on booze and tobacco's. I thought it was bad here already:roll:

You dont know what you dont know, if you're far to the left you've not even the possibility to be anywhere near potential presidency in USA:nutkick: He's more social, that's different than socialism, and a complete other thing than being (extremist) left.

The most "right" politician you europeans elected in the last 30 years is the new french president, Nicolas Sarkozy. Most (MOST!) europeans outside of france think the guy is a right wing nutcase, from my reading. Only the UK seems to like the guy much.

For the record, the UK does not particularily like him, I really would like to know what you base your facts on? ( I am guessing US media which of course is well qualified to report on what Brown thinks of his guests, probably because Brown of course would tell them that "he dont really like this guy much but hey......he's a neighbour!" ...... or maybe because he visited a while back? he is a neighbour, working on that theory would suggest the Blair/Brown governments liked GWB.....I very much doubt that also Ohhhhh we also hosted McCain and Obama, so we like both of them, sadly I dont get a choice who we invite otherwise London would be full of Phillepeno Dancing Girls:p .......on your other point.....so you think he is more "right" than Margaret Thatcher was? Give an Octopus 8 right legs and it wouldnt be as right as Margaret!

Dunno about you mate but i prefere Obama to brown lol i think hes a right boring old numpty his speeches bore me to death and i dont swallow anything that comes out his mouth bout time he gave up labour have a way of making somthing look good on one hand but are also good a introducing new taxes and stealth taxes like conjestion charges speed cameras theres even a resident parking permit scheme going on in my neighbourhood £25 a year to park your car on your own street and you arent guarenteed a parking space either BUT correct me if im wrong isnt this why we pay road tax? everything gets taxed its so bloody stupid (This tax things been used in british comedy before because of what they dream up to tax people on) Mention a tv lisence to americans there like wtf is that?. labours no better than any other party if you ask me its time for a revamp of all partys out with the old and in with the new cos its just same old same old.

McCain calls Obama a liar, faults his Chicago ties By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer
2 hours, 5 minutes ago

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Behind in the polls, Republican John McCain on Monday called Democratic rival Barack Obama a liar as he leveled his harshest criticism yet, and said the campaign boils down to one basic question: Who is Obama really?

Adopting an aggressive tone on the eve of their second debate of the season, the Republican presidential candidate criticized Obama's ties to Chicago, his legislative record and even his pair of best-selling memoirs.

McCain, speaking about the financial crisis, took offense at Obama's accusation that McCain opposed regulation that would have prevented the credit crunch. "I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed," McCain said.

The Arizona senator, a veteran of more than two decades in Congress, told his audience that while he is a known quantity the same cannot be said about Obama, who is midway through his first term as a senator from Illinois.

"You need to know who you're putting in the White House — where the candidate came from and what he or she believes," McCain said. "And you need to know now, before it is time to choose."

Later, he added: "There are essential things that we don't know about Sen. Obama or the record he brings to this campaign."

Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor said McCain is a "truly angry candidate" who is trying to divert attention from the economy and that it was Obama who warned, in 2007, of the subprime mortgage crisis now blamed for the turmoil in the financial industry. Vietor said McCain has been consistent in calling for less regulation, "proving that he hasn't learned any lessons from the last banking scandal he was involved in."

That was a reference to Charles Keating, a savings and loan financier and McCain friend and campaign contributor who ultimately was convicted of securities fraud. Just months into his Senate career in the late 1980s, McCain made what he has called "the worst mistake of my life" by participating in meetings with banking regulators on behalf of Keating.

The Senate ethics committee investigated five senators' relationships with Keating; McCain was cited for a lesser role than the others, including his "poor judgment."
McCain and his advisers plan to hammer the theme that Obama is an untested candidate who has not faced legitimate scrutiny as they try to close the gap in the final four weeks before Election Day, Nov. 4.

The Arizona senator spent the weekend working with his advisers to sharpen a line of attack against Obama, who has jumped ahead of the Republican in several critical swing states. Aides said the tinge of uncertainty about Obama is their way to puncture his lead in the polls.

Republicans have for months criticized Obama's relationship with his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright; convicted Chicago businessman and contributor Antoin "Tony" Rezko; and William Ayers, a 1960s-era radical and a founder of the Weather Underground group blamed for several Vietnam War-era bombings. Some of the criticism has come from McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
McCain hasn't stepped there yet.

"Who is the real Sen. Obama?" he asked Monday. "Is he the candidate who promises to cut middle class taxes, or the politician who voted to raise middle class taxes? ... Is he the candidate who promises change, or is he the politician who has bought into everything that is wrong with Washington? And he's bought into it, big time."

McCain drew loud cheers when he said the Democrat has written two memoirs but "he's not exactly an open book."

McCain also raised the specter of illegal foreign donors to Obama's campaign and special "earmark" spending requests for campaign fundraisers. "Why has Sen. Obama refused to disclose the names of people funding his campaign," McCain said as the crowd booed. "His campaign had to return $33,000 in illegal foreign funds from Palestinian donors."
McCain's reference was based on a Newsweek article that said Obama's campaign had returned the money to two brothers living in the Gaza Strip. According to the article, the two Palestinians "had bought T-shirts in bulk from the campaign's online store. They had listed their address as 'Ga.,' which the campaign took to mean Georgia rather than Gaza."

Obama, McCain said, sidesteps questions and instead criticizes anyone who challenges him.

"Whatever the question, whatever the issue, there's always a back story with Sen. Obama. All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government? What does he plan for America?" McCain said. "But ask such questions and all you get in response is another angry barrage of insults."

If you've got a minute, read this article. It's very touching. (don't worry, its not off topic)

http://leishacamden.blogspot.com/2008/10/not-that-it-matters.html

That is a nice story, but I'm voting based on the policies of the candidate. On a side note, here is another read:

...McCain was offered early release.[41] The North Vietnamese made that offer because they wanted to appear merciful for propaganda purposes,[42] and also wanted to show other POWs that elite prisoners like McCain were willing to be treated preferentially.[41] McCain turned down the offer of repatriation; he would only accept the offer if every man taken in before him was released as well....

That was after this:

Although McCain was badly wounded, his captors refused to treat his injuries, instead beating and interrogating him to get information, and he was given medical care only when the North Vietnamese discovered that his father was a top admiral.[35] His status as a prisoner of war (POW) made the front pages of major newspapers.[36][37]

McCain spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving marginal care.[32] By then having lost 50 pounds (23 kg), in a chest cast, and with his hair turned white,[32] McCain was sent to a different camp on the outskirts of Hanoi[38] in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live a week.[39] In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years.[40]

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain

a well documented article from rolling stone that shows why John is not the Maverick (I'm so tired of hearing that word) that he says he is:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/23316912/makebelieve_maverick/print

Of course it's an article against John McCain, its published in a leftist magazine whos owner supports Obama and all democrats for that matter...

Pot didn't make him do that. He either had a preexisting mental condition, or was on a much harder drug.

Actually it would make it wrong.

Religion is based on faith.

Science is based on fact.

Not alot of margin for error with scientific beliefs. Just ask the Vatican. They accept evolution as a way to explain there faith more accurately. Its wise that the Catholic church accepts science like it does. It makes it much more progressive than one would assume.:)

And to think if it wasn't for Constantine, Christianity would still be a death cult in the Middle East.

To be more specific, I meant religion as what one believes as fact. Sorry for the confusion.

Wow. I'm so happy I legally registered to vote. Who knows if any of these people are even US citizens.

Wiki: ...Note, for all states, in order to register to vote, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of the state, and 18 years old on or before election day. Additionally, most states do not permit an individual to vote if he or she is a convicted felon currently serving time in prison or has been declared mentally incompetent by a court of law...

I will be spending my day helping register new voters on Thursday in my state. Yes I will be working for the Obama campaign that day aswell including other days. ;)

I would rather help the country change than just complain about it. NC is an important state this year. :D

Thats a funny article BTW.

I remember a story about GW Bush supporters that were really old voting for their dead friends in Florida back in 2004.

Voter fraud is common but helping the poor to polling places is not illegal. Its actually a good idea to help people vote that wouldn't normally wouldn't be able to.

Whether that single homeless guy's felony was expunged or not is yet to be revealed. I wonder if he was yet another casualty of the war on drugs?

something one believes in and follows devotedly

religion requires faith

Science requires facts

Religion and Science are Apples to Oranges, you mix them without a good understanding of both and you get undesired results.

You can explain religion with science. It doesn't really work the other way around for some reason.

Science causes religious scripture to be interpreted differently. Its possible to say God gave the world a hint with scripture, and science helped him to increase his abilities to understand the holy books fully.

And thats how religion can coexist peacefully with science. If you believe in a set religion of course.
