I have gone through my 3rd visiontek 4870 & I'm sending this one back too visiontek sux. So basically I want the baddest A** 4870 on the market besides the 4870x2 so help me pick one I want it to have good memory that can be oc'd very or that has a huigh oc already and a good high core and I would prefer a 1gb instead of 512 unless soomeone tells me it will be faster to get the 512 of 1100mhz over the 1gb of 925mhz ram.

I will link to the 2 that I think are the best but if another one is better then tell me I am ready to buy right now and from newegg so please help

Hey I would actually go with this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102795

or wait for the 4870 toxic. I own a couple brands of 4870 and sapphire makes just as good a model as any. The 1gb is a really good deal on the 4870, and the stock cooler is more than enough when you're under load. The Powercolor cooler I wouldn't want because the heat dump would be in my system... not cool. 4870 get hot even with good air and you want the heat out of your case.

Yeah but heat aside I actually like the stock better too but I actually want the one with the highest clock or able to achieve the highest oc because of good mem not crappy visiontek memory

sapphire cards are good quality they have amazing support iv never had one die their coolers are nice and they've been known to put good mem chips on from time to time.

I would personally say visiontek, but sounds like you are having lots of problems with them.

I'm gonna have to agree with solaris and say sapphire then.

The XOC card is nice. My brother got one because he didn't believe me that I could turn a normal reference card into a XOC model.... guess what??? I turned it into an XOC and my brother spent $30 for nothing. There are ways to get those clocks and trust me when I say a sapphire card can handle overclocking. :)

If I got a 512MB card, I would get the Palit 4870 Sonic. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261029

It has better power circuitry, is overclocked, and happens to be the same price as the vanilla 4870's.

For a 1GB card, I would just get the Sapphire. The Powercolor AX is just a reference card with a different cooler and a slight OC. I'm willing to bet you can get the Sapphire to those levels. Then again, the Powercolor AX is only $10 more, and they are a good brand as well, so the choice is yours, really.

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
I'd go for Powercolor PCS+ 1GB if I were buying a HD4870.
And, afaik, RAM OC'ing doesn't mean squat for HD4870 because GDDR5 gives so ridiculous amounts of bandwidth already at stock that the RAM is far from bottlenecking the card in any way.

Bah... dump that heat out of the case with that nice reference cooler :D

If the heat it puts in the case causes problems, you needed better case cooling to begin with. The effects of heat dump with these types of coolers is way over exaggerated.
