I have a 8800GT and well my other one just went out on me so what I was looking to get is a new card not necessarily the same one .
I have in the past been having problems with the Nvidia drivers as of late mostly unstable system restarting and crashing when SLI was in play , I have not seen this happen with the one card ( yet ) .
What I have been thinking about is an ATI card ( don't know if it would be good with a Nvidia chip set though ) .
Any way I need A card that will be as good or better than the 8800GT I have now . One card is fine since I think SLI on this mobo is wacko or at best giving me the crashing I have been seeing since I had SLI .
What do you think of this card ?

Or this card ?

Please help me .. :rockout: :respect:

The 9800GT is just a rebranded 8800GT. The 4850 will outrun it in most instances. I got a 4850 and am seeing a noticeable improvement over my old 8800GT 1GB.

Well for the 9800GT you are pretty much getting the same card, the only difference between them are is that it is 3way SLI compatable, and it has a smaller die on the GPU. And The 4850 is nice, get that one.

..Why don't you sell the working 8800gt and get a GTX 260? Then you could SLI at a later date.

Get the 4850. The 9800gt is basically an OC'd 8800gt. 4850 beats it by quite a bit. ;P

Ok, so yer a hardcore hands on shopper...

But what comes of that - when you see this ?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127361

It was 189.99 a couple of days ago - you get the free Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 full version game - and it will run on yer current ps - it's a pretty good price actually - for a 260/192 oc@620 -
and now there's no rebate hassle - and the egg has a rep for very fast delivery.

If that doesn't crack the hands on walk out with it shopping champion - nothing will.

Say high to the cute checkout girl.

It is nice and all but this still has no DX 10.1 support the 4850 and 4870 do .

Also with all the problems with the stability of Nvidia drivers don't you think I should try out some thing known for it driver stability ?

Umm some people swear by your 4850 - like you.

 Very tricky trickson - yes that system has no brain :nutkick:

On the 10.1, not sure what's it's doing for you though, but stability ? That's funny you mention 10.1 since it's causing ati's to crash.
 ( I've seen nvidia more stable for over a decade - it's not even close - there shouldn't ever be any hazy idea otherwise - even ati fans may have to NOT USE CCC - if they know what they're doing - they tell you everything is perfect, then you find out they won't use the included control panel from their fave card company... I'm sorry but that settles it right there. ) If someone tells me expert enthusiasts can make sure ati cards are rock stable - I'll agree.

It seems to me you can answer your own question just slap your 4850 from your profile in your second system.
(or maybe you're just trolling for giggles - and don't have a second system - who knows! )

WHATEVER.

" I already have a 4850 in my 680i board profile , now I want to do it to another - should I ? "

Oh boy it smells like BS to me.

Then you answer your own questions in the thread ... and respond already "figured out" on any point - LOL

Enjoy ripping out CCC, crashing on 10.1, etc etc... is all I have left to say. :nutkick:

Look at your own profile, troll.

If you would stop and look I am not trolling at all ! I started a thread that states I picked up my HD 4850 today . and I made up my mind about DX 10.1 offering and the fact that I have had nothing but major issues with SLI on this mobo and plan to get a crossfire mobo soon and another 4850 as well .
What you need to do is stop the name calling you are way too new here to call some on a troll got it siliconslick ?

Well today I took the HD 4850 Back it was over heatting somthing bad too . so I went ahead and purchased this card , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127361 .
I can not believe that the 4850 was getting that hot it was so hot that I could NOT touch the HSF at all ( Well when I did It burned my finger ) . strange the fan just would not throttle up at all . Any way I think this card will be far better any way .

I went from a 3850 to a 4850 and i wasn't that impressed with performance gain but don't get me wrong the 4850 is a great card for the money , i just wished i had paid that bit extra for the 4870 or the 260 max core.

Sorry to hear you had issues with your 48xx card, many more have instability and overheating issues with their 48xx cards than the GTX2xx guys do, not to start a flame war, just stating the facts. That's why back in July I chose a GTX card against popular demand, I ended up getting a good deal and a cheap step-up to a Core216, so really I didn't lose out much compared to todays prices, yet my performance is great, the card is stable as hell, very ocable (I just run 666/1458 1200...can go quite a bit further, just don't need it), and runs pretty cool overall. DX10.1 is more gimmick than necessity at this point, not many games out there have support for it, and there was a nice explanation somewhere on the forums describing the point and lack there of of DX 10.1, also explaining how DX10 cards are capable of DX 10.1 calls, just requires longer lines of coding/command strings.

You will be happy with your purchase! Please feel free to post questions/results in my GTX thread!
