What kind of liquid ?

I am wanting to know what kind of liquid to use in my "water cooling setup " ?
Can you use anti freeze ? Or do you have to buy the stuff they sell ? or can you use water ?
What do you use to fill every thing up ?

I ran straight distilled water with a cap of alcohol to kill algae. Do not run tap or antifreeze.

Why can't you run anti freeze ? It is because it will hurt the pump?

Yes, and it's thick. There will be less flow in the loop. A loop for a computer doesn't get nearly as hot or get the pressure of a cooling system in a car. Distilled water works the best as it's very cheap. Fesser coolant beats distilled by 1 or 2c but that's about it. I run just distilled and have no problems with corrosion or algae.

What Erocker said. If you absolutely want to, you can get something like fluidxp, but it's really not needed. Distilled water has the best temps.

Great then I will get some distilled water and put a cap full of rubbing alcohol in it right ?
Can I just put some water in a gallon jug and let it sit out for a couple of days ?

i use distilled water with a bit of pentosin in it for a little blue color. pentosin is bmw antifreeze. any bmw dealer will have it, and its cheap. comes in red and blue. you can also get vw coolant, which is a cool color orange.

I have Koolances Liquid blue stuff. Basically the coolant you buy is Ethylene Glycol. What is that you ask? Well that is Antifreeze. However, its a bit different solution level than what comes already mixed or mixed 50/50. Anything like Distilled Water (DI Water) or Coolant will work.

i've been running distilled water mixed 90/10 with regular antifreeze for almost 5yrs now without a hitch!

a piece of silver (coin or something) or a couple drop's of bleach/iodine will help to keep it super clean

i alway's wash/dry then rinse with alcohol everything before i assemble it....

this has worked for me

WOW so a 90/10 mixture will work ? cool I just want it for the color LOL . I would think that bleach would foam up . a Coin what kind like a penny ?

75% distilled water, 25% glycol (basically pure antifreeze... its the cooling agent in antifreeze) and a bit of bleach (to kill everything that might grow in it) I fill mine via a T line, and drain it with a T valve (both Ts have a valve).
