Looking to buy a new mouse !

Hello TPU, I need a new cordless mouse in the 25-50 dollar range.
It will be used for internet and windows, it need to be in standard size or bigger, wireless, and comfortable.. thats it

I've been thinking maybe Logitech LX8, but thats over 50 dollars so i'll get it if there is nothing else worth buying under 50.
Perhaps Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 ?

Logitech MX Revolution, best buy there is. I picked mine up refurb from Amazon last week and it works fantastic. They got them now for $39 refurb, it really doesn't get much more comfortable than that.

i have the MX Revolution too, really good only the side of it peels but it doesnt really affect comfort, only looks.

I am 6'3 and my hands are pretty large, is it still a good option ?
I am trying to pick between the older MX1000 and this.

The MX1000 is a good choice too, my friend has one, but all honesty the Revolution is as comfortable as it gets. I am also 6' 3" with good sized hands, so we be in the same boat. All Logitechs are comfortable, but the Revolution is the Cadillac of mice.

If you are a gamer DPI is a major factor here. the Mx1000 has a really low DPI rating. I found swapping over to a Mx518 was it for me. After 2 years of solid gaming with my Mx1000, I never went back after I got my higher DPI Mx518 into play. Much more precision and a lot less movement on your part to get the pointer/crosshairs across the screen so you may apply your next hot lead injection to the next unsuspecting guy before he gets you!

Just my 2 pennies.

I have to say the mx revolution is a good mouse but < massive massive massive but. There is a problem with the charger and eventualy it ceases to work. Mines has recently done it and my friends doesn't work either.

i'd suggest g5 mouse from logitech, i love mine, the software is solid, settings work well and the resolution adjustments help wonders when going from short range weopons to a sniper rifle.

I too had the issue with the Mx1000 not charging correctly. seems really touchy to get it to charge anymore, but its been soldiering on since Nov. 05.

Do these cordrless mice really just go bad that you have to throw them away ? I know people who have been working with the mx1000 for years..

as I say my Mx1000 is 3 years old now and still kicking. It just has issues every so often and a reset or unplugging it all and reseting usually cures!

I'm just waiting till dawn and then I'm taking my MX Revolution back to the shop. Bought at the end of May and am getting freezes where the pointer gets stuck for a half second at random intervals. Makes gaming well nigh impossible at times. Google " mx revolution freezing" and you'll see I'm not the only one.....

Weird coincidence seeing this thread!

I would assume to not have the tethered feel. I always had wired mouses and never thought about it. But once I got my MX Revolution, think I'm in love.

Do that same search on the MX518's and MX500's and you will get the same amount of results. Anything produced in quantity and given time will break. They gotta keep you coming back to the cookie jar.

I love my MX Rev more than ANY other mouse I have ever used. It is very comfortable in my hand, and great for scrolling through many lines of code.

I give it a 10/10.

Install UberOptions, too. I have my second scroll wheel mapped to media functions.

I expect things to break when they're out of warranty for the reasons you state, not after 6 months. Doesn't make financial sense to have failures when the manufacturer is still responsible. Seriously, check out Logitechs own forum, there are a LOT of similar cases.

I pointed out that other Logitechs freeze also to make a point, it isn't just one product from one company. Search now for Razer mouse freezing. Once again you will find more results. Then check every forum that is specific to something. Fallout 3 forums or some hardware/software forum of any nature. You will find problems in every single of these places. It isn't just one company, thats what my point is. Some people get lucky and have products that last a lifetime, then the next guy buys the same product and it breaks the next week, luck of the draw. Sucks but it's life

G7's a nice mouse, more gaming oriented, doesn't have the massive thumb cradle or thumb scroll. But would be a nice choice also.

Oh I forgot to mention Kurgan, I got the refurbished mouse in the end from that amazon deal (damn, that was a great price compared to newegg), but do I need a special pad for it ? I am working on a wooden desktop... I never had a laser mouse (or any mouse over 4.99$)
