i found a odd driver/game bug that increases fps and image quality.

turn on 2xAF on performance, and 2x Temporal AA through ati tray tools.

easy 20fps bump when benchmarking.

enjoy

*tested with 2x 2900pro's crossfire and 3870x2 with same result*

Yeah, recently Ubisoft's games (Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 2) have basically looked like they poured 98% of their resources into making it look pretty, and then 2% on gameplay as an afterthought.

Don't get me wrong, Far Cry 2 was fun at first, but honestly, after 5 hours of playing it, you might as well stop, because all the mission are so repetitive.

Not to mention the generic 'guard posts', lack of any npc's besides ones that instantly start shooting at you, etc., etc.

It just is totally lacking in the gameplay department... :shadedshu

On another note, performance-wise, I've noticed that with an hd4870 if you have all setting maxed, with 2xAA you will get about 20-30 fps. However, if you just set shadows to very high from ultra high, you instantly get 20+fps increase.

to tell you the truth, all ive played of the game is about 5min. the rest of the time i tweak and bench. the way it renders ultra shadows is poo poo. you can see the rendering distance on ranch long benchmark when it goes over the river and the tree makes the shadow. ugly as sin i tell you. also im noticing in dx10 there are some grass textures missing vs dx9.

Words on a forum are inadequate to describe by unhappiness regarding buying this crap game on Steam. If I'd bought a boxed copy, it would've been sold back to a used game store. This game is hyped garbage that finally proves once and for all that game reviewers have devolved into complete paid-off clueless morons.

Either that, or they watch the trailer and base their reviews on it.

I bought GTA4 on steam and I got my money back. Just take it to your bank account and tell them to refund it.

A few peoples opinions don't express the opinions of all no matter what side of the fence you are on. I've seen a few bad FarCry2 reviews. Personally, I liked the game. Will I play it through again? No.

Gets boring at around 25% in, then it's just the same repetitive gameplay the whole way through. It seems to have lost it's value and seems to be going fairly cheaply second hand.

I'm halfway through now, tyring to get as many guns as possible so I can kill the repetitive spawned guys in different ways.

After that... I do plan on finishing it, but I think Ninja Gaiden II will come first

For me its a good game. If it wasn't for so many respawns I would be very happy with it... I've had it for around 2+ months and I'm still only 8% finished :).

Made an oath to myself not to play the game until they patch it up real nice.

I actually like FC2..but like mentioned, if you modded it so there were no respawning guards, it would make it even better.
about halfway it gets better..

Steam had it for 15 bucks last night. I bought it and benched it. I get an average of 42fps with DX10 everything maxed out at 1680 x 1050. Is there something wrong? Is this normal?

Heh no one has mentioned the 5 activation BS yet either. Yeah this game is pretty much fail. Oh well, I had a $50 gift card to Best Buy and couldn't find anything else I wanted.

The only way I've found myself enjoying it is when I play it for a couple of hours then quit. Anymore than 2 hours play and I just lose interest. Another thing I hate is the crap buddy system. Freaking hate the characters.

Looking forward to being able to play it again though, along with the new Intel based missions and maybe the additional content, if I can find it for download anywhere else that isn't Steam.

That's playable depending on what's on screen, what settings and the resolution?
