Asus M3A78-T vs. MSI DKA790GX

Which one is better. The Asus has an extra PCI-E slot and is almost 30 bucks cheaper. However thats my concern. Why the price difference? Am I missing something here? Is the MSI a better made board or just newer?

The Asus may have an extra pci-e slot but I wouldn't use that in your consideration. If you have 3 graphics card plugged in the lanes are going to run at 8x, 4x, & 8x. That 4x will be a huge bottleneck for all modern cards.

I dont see no price diff, the Asus on newegg is $149 and the MSI is $154. Toss an extra $15 - $20 and get the DFI M2RSH 790FX imo.

Here is a review of the MSI DKA790GX Platnium http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/dka790gx/21.htm. It looks like they both have a 5 phase design so I don't see what is so special. I do like the layout of the MSI board alot more than the Asus one.

The MSI was my first choice however they are out of stock. So my "connection" got me the Asus instead. I haven't seen much in performance but I was worried more about build quality.

As for the FX I want the 750SB and the only FX they had was an MSI which only has a 600.

I'm assuming you're talking about phase 4+1? I ask because I know nothing of phase design or how it effects a mobo.

Quality wise both boards should be fine. I have been using MSI a lot lately and haven't had any problems. Asus is usually good as well. I have had a few of their boards in the past without any problems.

Yes, that is what I'm talking about. It's suppose to help regulate the voltage and not cause drastic vdroops on the cpu or memory voltage that plagued earlier boards(especially the skt 478 and skt A boards).

I just just bought the 78-T over the MSI and DFI boards. The 78-T is also on sale at ZZF. I bought it for $136 yesterday. At this price, it really can't be beat. Here's a review on the 78-T:

Yeah I know. I'm getting mine for 109. Its just not the board I wanted or even researched. When I heard I wasn't getting the MSI my stress skyrocketed. I hate going into a purchase blind.

For 109 its a good buy, if you dnt like it you can probably sell it here for the same if not more. Asus is a good brand and for that price you can't go wrong, so don't stress out

If you read the review, you'll probably be a little less stressed. Also, in my experience DFI and Asus tend to overclock better than any other brands.
