PHENOM2 BE for the unlocked multiplier at a (relatively) reasonable cost. If there was no BE then either one would be just as good ( I think... from what I read both have pros and cons).

Why are you comparing a Phenom II to a C2D ? why not an i7 ? I would go i7 before Phenom II .

phenom 2 easy.
EDIT: everyone should fold, its free? except for a higher energy bill, a shorter life on the hardware in which you are folding, and the fact that you dont get anything from it.
actually, i guess you can be part of a team, you get that from it:laugh:

+1
The OP should ask i7 or PII as this is a better comparison even a QX9650 is going to give the PII a lot of comp . maybe better than a Q6600 ..
If you get a PII post some benchmarks !

Phenom 2. If i were going for a new build, I would certainly do that. I like new tech and the Phenom is new. C2D is old for me and boring me to tears.

That is what I said . But even the Core 2 quads are going to give them PII's a run for the money trust me .

but phenom 2 has two advantages over c2q. 1 - unlocked multiplier = fun, 2 = amd high end boards are dirt cheap
