ok i have a d-link dfe-530tx+ pci network card that has been sitting around never used. should i install this or should i stay with my onboard lan or should i have both running on my router or what should i do? someone help?

having two Ethernet Ports really doesn't do anything. you either use one or the other with my understanding.

there wouldn't be any performance notices. keep with your Onboard LAN. put that PCI LAN into a box and store it.

In most home situations it matters not. Though if you want Gigabit speeds you'd be better off with an actual chip than some cheap Realtek thing. It doesn't matter where the chip is located though(onboard or on some card), many high end boards come with good chips. However, if you require a Gigabit card, don't go PCI but PCIe/PCI-X.

I have used both and I can honestly say that there is no difference. Save the PCI slot and use the onboard.

You have 10/100 integrated and the PCI card is also 10/100. They are the same speed so from a performance standpoint, it doesn't matter which one you use.
