Which one of these 2 hdds for OS/Gaming?

i have been looking at these two hdds i want one of them for my system, and it have to run as OS and Gaming. OS 100gb and 400gb for Gaming disc.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500 GB

500 GB / 7200 rpm / 32 MB / Serial ATA-300

&

Samsung SpinPoint F1 Desktop Class HD502IJ 500 GB

500 GB / 7200 rpm / 16 MB / Serial ATA-300

which will be the best, the Samsung with 16mb cache or the Seagate with 32mb cache?

i hope someone here know it, 'cause at tweak.dk's forum they don't really know they say i won't feel the difference some of them think, but what u think?

It seems that Seagate if faster in almost every benchmark.

Thx robal, it's seems like after all the 32mb cache do something all-around

so i think i will be buying the Seagate to get my Hitachi 160gb ATA-133 a break or be turned in to DATA disc instead

Yep, the Seagate seems a little bit better, so if it about the same price, go for it.

The 500GB Samsung is much slower because it uses 2x250GB platters, unlike the usual 334GB platters in the F1 lineup. The cache on either drive is hardly the deciding factor.

If you can find a 640GB F1 (HD642JJ), you'll find it's much faster than any Seagate 7200.11 offering (short of the 1.5TB).

I'm not sure where you are, so obviously price is a deciding factor in your choices. Just a heads up...

nafets, i am at Denmark at the moment so and the Seagate is the cheapest and most performance hdd i can get my hands on for $76,22 and i don't have a lot of money for hardware so i mostly buy used.

I had drive failures from 2 seagate 7200.11 500GB within days of each other, and they were less than a month old. I am left a bit disappointed by Seagate because of that, despite the excellent performance of the 2 drives.
