Hi All
The title says it all!

What will be the cheapest upgrade form ATI3870x2 card?
The MB is ASUS P5N32E-SLI so Crossfire options are no go!

9800gtx or even the 9800gtx+ would be a downgrade IMO. The GTX260 is stretching it. Honestly the only thing I can see as being an upgrade would be a 4870x2, or a GTX295, and niether of those are what I would consider cheap.

I was going to suggest just picking up a 3870 for tri-fire but you have a SLI board :banghead:

If you're happy with ATI and have no problems with single card Crossfire, then your best bang for the buck is a 4850x2 ($280 after rebate - free shipping). Beats anything else you could buy at that price.

Yes this may be the one. I have no problems with ATI or nVidia. The thing is that I play games at 1680x1050 and I like the settings at MAX

I'm not sure that single card will do the trick. I'm ready to spend 100$ + what I can get for the 3870x2.

For what you have right now I would stick with what you have. The 3870X2 is on par/slighly worse than a single 4870 and 260 so they wouldn't improve much. Wait for GT300 and HD5000 man..

BTW My 2 HDDs are in RAID so changing the MB/chipset will be hard to do!

Yes there are bad sides of going RAID but soon (not as soon as I want) I'll be going to X58 and i7 so I'll think then how to transfer my data

FYI, P45 and X58 both use the same southbridge for RAID.

I saw you said you like playing games at max at 1680 x 1050 and the gtx260 that jr suggested would play them all at 1080p at max. I have one and play all my games maxed out on 1920 x 1080

Dependant on where you live, the cheapest upgrade for you would be a 9800GX2 which is near GTX280 performance for around the price of a 1GB 4870 otherwise, as some have suggested, a GTX260 216 or 1GB HD4870 would offer marginal benefits leaving you with the GTX280, HD4850x2, HD4870x2 or the new 285/295 NVidia cards, but the GX2 is probably the best bang for buck increase for you.

At your resolution however, apart from perhaps Crysis, do you really need anything more powerful??
