couldnt be more wrong. They are completely different chips, you might be thinking of the GTS. The 8800GTX is G80 core, while the 9800GTX is the G92, just like the 8800GTS 512, which is an underclocked 9800GTX.
He is right.. the G92 series are rebatched G82 cores..
