none what so ever... actually i think the 790GX is better with that card at high rez than the p45/7xx/x58 for intel - when i read the phenom II reviews w/ gtx 280 the PII 940 is ahead after 1600x1200 and they attribute to the 790 chipset.

yea thats what i was also thinking but my current aftermarket cooler takes up three slots and it would be hard to crossfire maybe?

also i only have a 16X/8X

16x+8x wouldn't matter at all. No bottlencecking there as they are PCIe 2.0

Depends on your board and whether the slot's covered.

PCIE 2.0 8x is the same as PCIE 1.0 16X (PCI-E 2.0 just feeds more voltage and is double the speed... so 8x 2.0 is the same as 16x 1.0) the 4850 in CF would be fasetr than a 280, no doubt. I run the one 8x and one 16x config with the 260's and its totally fine.

Not sure it faster they are actually about the same when oced had both set ups.
