Processor AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition Agena 2.50GHz
Motherboard Biostar TA790GX 128m
Cooling OEM-9850 fan & sink-added Thermaltake NB cooler with fan
Memory 8gb Corsair Dominator XMS2 1066MHz
Video Card(s) Visiontek Radeon X850 Xt
Storage Various size Seagate 7200.11's
Display(s) Several, about 20- today its a pair of Optiquest Q71's
Case Antec NSK4400 with extra self made HD fan
Audio Device(s) Asus Xonar DX 7.1 pcie and some Koss pro 4aa's
Power Supply OCZ / StealthXStream 600watt
Software Windows 7 Professional Retail 64 bit.
Benchmark Scores cool n quiet disabled- everything full up at 2.6ghz and ht at 2200. Ram at 2.2v
Im putting this to the group- the only heating problem im having in this unit is the northbridge which consistantly runs at 53C :wtf:

two problems- the nb heatsink is tied to the mosfet regulators and there is an asus xonar pcie card right above it.

heres a pix of the stock mobo

sorry i dont have a pix of the unit assembled- the freq is stock at 2000- cpu at 2.7g

nb is not overvolted. cpu running at 1.3 v - this has been running at this temp consistently since it was new

any cost efficiant ideas would be welcome-

thanks

There are some nice options with Thermalright for the NB if you don't have a height issue.

Enzotech have some low profile options that will work as well.

You can use some of the individual heatsinks for the mosfet.

Happy shopping.

That's running quite hot. Have you tried disassembling the heat pipe assembly from the MB & checking the thermal tape/paste contact & quantity? Sometimes all it takes is a little push to seat everything. I usually replace the thermal paste on the NB with ASC, & use a metalized thermal tape on the MOSFETS. I also like to zip-tie a fan to the HPA. As for aftermarket NB/SB HSF assemblies, as pretty as the Enzo stuff is, it's not as effective as the Evercool VC-RE.

make sure the heatsinks are tight, a couple of times when handing the mobo from the heatsink It can get loosen, so remove them and place some quality thermal grease and see what happens.

or you can try the Thermaltake Xtreme Spirit II NB Cooler, I owned one and It did an excellent job.

also enzotech makes nice nb heatsinks or you can go EK blocks for watercooling or MIPs for waterblocks

Enzotech = not as good as other alternatives. Do your research.
