GTX295 buzzing noises

So ive had many cards before that buzz/squeal but this ones a little different, and the price of the card makes me worry too...

So like all my other cards she buzzes a bit under 3d load which is fine, doesnt really both me too much, but the fan makes it buzz/whine and bordering on crackle too.....

40% (auto) fan and its dead quiet, not a peep from the card, ramp the ran up to 50+% and even under 2d i can tell its the fan thats caused a low buzz/crackle noise.

i was so excited when i got the card i really didnt card, but now that im settling into a 24/7 oc i want some opinions on if shes gunna die.

Could be a bit of dirt stuck in the fan motor ?

If the buzzing is louder with higher FPS a would say that we have the same problem. And I`m refering as a problem because my 4830 died after 3 min of max FPS buzzing. In 3dmark03 at 2000+ FPS it hurts my ears.

I would think it could be a busted fan or motor, or possibly like DrPepper said maybe some dirt in it. I would blast the hell out of it with some canned air and see if that works. But I wouldn't even bother with trying too hard on it, just RMA it and be done with it.

buzz as noise , caused by the motor it self .

buzz are not indication of death .

buzz caused by cheap motors , that their work out of phase , because inside there not as many coils , as it needs to be .

Less inside coils = economy design

yeah i read your post and there are many others like it (posts and cards), the card buzzing i can deal with, my last 5+ high end cards have all buzzed under load (with varying noise depending on FPS and scenario etc) but this one is mainly about the fan itself buzzing... and only if i ramp it over 40% - but realistically, a GTX295 will have to ramp its fan up, and that buzzing shits me...

I wouldn't fool around with a possibly already garbage fan/fan motor, as it's already under alot of stress trying to move the heat of two sets of GPUs/Memory/and VRMs.

We're not talking about some buzzy fan on a junk video card. Considering the price and complexity of the GTX 295, the fan and cooling system needs to be operating at it's best to ensure proper temperatures during load and long life of the video card.

I wouldn't hesitate to Replace/Exchange/RMA it.

yeah the card/s do squeal too, which doesn't bother me, as like you, i have had many many buzzing cards.

this noise borders more on an electrical crackle/buzz coming from the fan, so it disconcerts me highly....

i'm right on the verge of an RMA today, any more thoughts to chuck in guys?

I've had a buzz....while playing cards....does that count? LMAO

Honestly...to much money spent to be looking for ANY kind of fix......and if it bothers you to any degree....which it seems to.....then RMA it and be done with it.

it`s choke thing...
vga chokes are vibrating caused from synchronization of a frequency and unfortunately you (we) can hear it...
it can be solved or by changing the output frequency of the voltage coming out the psu (a bit difficult cause you need to change psu parts) or by covering the vga chokes with non conductive nail polisher....

i prefer hearing it....
in no way can it be lethal for the card....(the squeeky noise)...

Yes, and they dance syrtaki too ... :laugh:

The issue are one and just one , you can not shrink a DC motor as much you like .
The only solution to shrink a motor , are less inner coils.

lol I'm reviving this thread for a short time, I'm getting these noises as well but apparently so are alot of people who have a gtx295. Everyone says its normal it apparently common with their high end cards and its related to power consumption, coils and capacitors.

It could be a ball bearing in the fan that's out of place or messed up. That can cause a click/pop/whine in fans. That happened to the fan in my enermax PSU and I had to replace it.

thats what I thought because some case fans make squeels, whines or buzzing when undervolting to 7v or 5v but a quote from another forum

EVGA said its caused by "talking capacitors". Theres nothing wrong with the card except that it will be loud under load.

EVGA guy: "A few in many capacitors will have this problem. It wont live any shorter than any other capacitors but it will be loud."

The will RMA it but will I have to prove to them that I bought it from an authorized dealer, which I did.

so this won't effect performance unless annoying you counts.

IDK, if you heard Caps in your PSU making that noise or making a highpitched whine that you can hear, would you continue to run it? Personally Id Send it back.

In my case its the GPU's PCB capacitors making noises, I've checked many times and my hx620 was not making a sound.

I think you can RMA for the noise but it doesn't really bother me since my case fans are pretty loud and i was never fussed by computer noises.
