Right while looking around for cheaper deals & a little re-search - I finally managed to stumble across the Q9550(s)

Obviously my small/medium budget as well as my Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder has played a great part in making this build.

I have heard of the S-Spec Q9550's but today I was shocked to find out that they cost almost £75 (about $106.65 for my U.S brothers & sisters out there) over the standard Q9550.

most standard Q9550's over clock to at least 3.8Ghz but few will hit 4Ghz if you have decent cooling. I know for £75 for the 'extra' 200Mhz in overclocking head room is a complete rip off. but my OCD wont have it that im missing out on something 'better so to speak :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu

Will standard Q9550's still clock to 4Ghz??? im gonna be getting a OCZ Vendetta2 cooler & Biostar Tpower I45 which has been reviewd to run at 555Mhz+ FSB.

& with that said. over to you before my OCD makes me do bad things :eek::eek:

I think the new E0 stepping Q9550's hit over 4ghz on air

That is correct.

I have mine in an Antec 900 case with good air cooling. Runs great@4GHZ.

I think I can get 4.5GHZ on air with a little more work.

You will be hardpressed to get a quad every day stable over 500FSB... I would expect to land in the 440-470 range as thats were most land.

Also that motherboard will never do those speeds on a quad, MAYBE for a suicide with insane voltages. Only the duals are up in the 550+Mhz FSB range.
