Yes, you will notice some jumps in games, but why not just get a Q9550 or something since you already have the motherboard?

Q9550 is not an option as it is very expensive here

I personally would rather have the 940 because I used to have one. If I'm not mistaken your current board is a P35, right? I don't think a P35 would OC a Q9550 very well anyway..

You would be fine with a E8400 and a HD 4870. My suggestion

What i like to know its your monitor specs .

Not worths to pay for VGA if your game resolution its set below 1600x1200 .

I would say keep it as it is , its a nice setup .

Well, my budget is $400 and I don't know what to do, upgrade to phenom II 940 and mobo and get an HD4850 for now so I can upgrade to crossfire in future or I just stick with my current system and get new graphic card

Your CPU is just fine, it isn't wise to switch over to AMD. Keep that CPU, over 4 ghz is excellent. I recommend a new GPU, get the EVGA GTX 260 CORE 216 (55nm) if you can. It's a better performer than the HD 4870 and it's more efficient.

Then I don't see what's wrong with your current system. Why not just save that 400$ for when a game comes out that you can't run and spend it upgrading so you can run it

Or buy a bunch of games and make yourself a heavy gamer

yes it's a waste your system is plenty fast just the way it is. Mabe a 260gtx or 4870 1gb but even your video card a 8800 gts /9800gtx really is plenty fast.

I wouldn't call that an upgrade. Your E8400 is faster, unless you happen to actually have applications that use all 4 cores (this is very rare)
