Went from 2.6Ghz to 3Ghz in about 30 seconds worth of work.

Here is CPU-Z before:

And here it is after:

My temps went way up from around 42 to 56 at idle. Is this something to be worried about? I'm not sure what the max temps are for the FX series.

Also, I ran another 1M digit Superpi and guess how much faster it went...

1/10 of a second. lol From 35.688 seconds before OC to 35.578 after.

Not sure if this is worth another 14 degrees of heat.

I set it to 1.35 in the bios. Looks to be doing that on its own.

Doesn't matter much. System locked up running 3DMark 06. Back to stock speeds now. :p

Ah well. I left the CPU over voltage at auto. I dunno what made it go up to what it was.

Oh well, back to 40c.

I know someone in high school that had one of these and he was trying to tell me how AMD was so much better over the C2D series.

Thats hot, Don't the coolers pull hot air off the video card...

Probably, but there's no other option with these coolers. There are only tabs for the coolers on the top and bottom of the sockets. If they had some on the left and right I could mount them sideways and point them right at the rear exhaust.

Pretty sure it would mess up the airflow that way.

So were Intel Emergency Edition, and the first P4 3.20 GHz with HT. :p

Quad FX @ 3.00 GHz is outperformed by a 2.2 GHz Phenom 9500.

Yeah, people are feeling suspicious now about AMD's absence with dual-slot. It's just one of those hunches ya know?

It is known that the Athlon64 FX 74 achieves 3.00 GHz stock, at 1.472 V. It's the same as the overclock you just did, multiplier up by 2.00X. So I suggest you override the core voltage to 1.472 V and check for its stability. Here's FX-74 before CPU-Z learned how to detect it:
