MY first watercooling setup.

Hi folks.

Well today i got my new cpu. A Q9450.

So i could finally start on my watercooling project.

Took me about 2 hours to make layout for the tubing and cutting it to the right size.
Then i took everything out of the case to do a test run.

After letting it run for about 1 hour i drained it and let it dry out a bit.
Then i started building everything in the case now with al the hose clamps on the tubing.

They kinda suck because the ones that came with the Swiftech kit are much better but i only got two of them so i am gonna order different ones that a smaller.

Then i added the dye bomb. UV red. I need another one because i don't think it is red enough.

And then. Finished!

Tomorrow i am gonna make some decent brackets for the res to sit on.

I need a fan speed controller to. One that can have multiple fans connected. Cause the three fans on top are giving me a headache. :laugh:

Looks pretty sweet. I would agree that the dye isn't red enough though. I wish I could afford watercooling but I just don't have the cash to do it and it just wouldn't be very practical for me at the moment.

Nice for first time, interesting where you put the rad. Looks like you bought some qaulity parts though, what kinda temps you getting idle and load?

Speedfan reports 14C but i thinks its misreading.

Realtemp gives me 26C idle and 30C at load.

Just watch your clearnace for the GPU. I had this problem with the Koolance block for the Southbridge.
You should get a water block for your 4870!

No real point in water cooling a graphics card. They just dont have the ability to overheat if your case airflow is fine, that is unless your volt modding, then toss that baby under some water.

Yeah it kinda was difficult because the 1/2'' tube is not that easy to bend in a small case like i have.

Thanks for the offer... but I'm a bit scared of drilling wc holes into the shiny new case haha. I was just wondering. Also, if you switch your top fans to "pull" instead of push (since you dont have a shroud), you will get better temps and it should be a bit quieter.

I am waiting for my Q9550 to come in and decided to drain my system and replace the tubing with UV red and just go with some distilled water instead of the dye bombs. Also replacing the XSPC top and the Swiftech res with a XSPC res/pump top so it will shorten the loop about 25cm.

I was reading some post where people say you can use 7/16 tube for 1/2'' fitting.
Now my question. Should i do it and why? And if i should do will give me benefit over the 1/2'' tubing routing them in the case. Also i read that when the tubing gets narrower the flow gets faster. Is this a advantage or a disadvantage over 1/2'' tubing?

Oh yeah. And if anyone is interested in the XSPC top and the Swiftech res shoot me a pm and i will make a good price for it.

people do that because they want to make SUPER SURE that the tubing won't pop off the fitting... its not going to if you use clamps (or even tight zipties) and you really dont need to do it, it also makes it hard as F*** to disassemble the loop.

The difference between 1/2 ID and 7/16 ID is so tiny that it does not make much difference in routing or flowrates... although I dont know for sure since ive never tried...

Then i will stick with 1/2'' because the tubing is pretty tight on the fittings already. I had to cut it from the fittings i have on the rad because it would not come off. :laugh:
