HI all
i have crossfire with 2 cards ati 3870 HD powercolor rv670

mainboard is asus P5K-E-wifi
Procesor DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, 2666 MHz (8 x 333)

crossfire enable but GPU-z say available but disabled
???

and is good that 2nd card in only at 4x slot? 1st card is 16x bus interface?

or not some improvement in crossfire mode?
in 3dmark latest say cca 11 000 marks and with 2 cards cca. 13 000

and one question for bios? is any new bios for these card?
games are working good but fan is working all time in one speed, quiet and I think that it is not 100% used

System Name ( . Y . )
If you want to see inprovement in games and 3dmark you need to overclock your processor ,try 376x8.
Second card is botlenecked by your 4x slot
For fan control use riva tuner

yes
i try with 2 also, now are two
but I think that the problem is in the second PCI slot and 4x speed
but why GPU-Z says that crossfire is disable when it runs enabled
strange

The x4 thing is right for your second card. As far as crossfire is concerned, do you have vista/vantage that you can run to confirm?

Having a 3870 in a PCI-E 4x slot really hurts performance. This article shows that a 4x link is not adaquate for a 8800 GTS, which performs about the same as a 3870. Generally speaking, if PCI-E 16x was represented at 100%, PCI-E 8x is about 85% and PCI-4x is about 60%. So you're only getting about 60% of the performance of your 3870, which is a significant hit imo. I would recommend an upgrade to a cheap P45 motherboard with 2 PCI-E 16x slots. You're not overclocking (yet), so you don't need a board that can do high FSBs. All P45 mobos can do at lease 400MHz FSB, which is plenty for your E6750. And a P45 boards are able to do 8x 8x Crossfire, which is pretty good for a mainstream solution imo. Definitely more performance in a 8x 8x setup than in a 16x 4x setup.

It's odd that Crossfire doesn't get enabled. I don't know how to help you there.

But even if it is a x4 slot, it would be pretty decent performance increase over a single 3870. One other item to look at Daderomix. Do you have Catalyst AI enabled?

drivers are 9.3 default settings with crossfire enabled
Catalyst AI is default enable

maybe is time to upgrade mainboard but then you will new cpu, more ram, new ATI maybe 4890 :D
hmmm.. hard to get all these right now

anyone know how high E6750 is going ? now is default 2,66 GHZ, i try to 3.02 GHz on these asus
and can anyone recommend a new mainboard like my asus but with 16x 16x pci-x

because i like these asus right now, only 1 shitty pci-x at 4x make me angry
pc is right now old 1.5 year

As far as a new mobo that would be inexpensive....

Asus P5Q Pro. :)

Oh also, should be able to see 3.2Ghz out of that chip on stock volts.

i decide to sell these 2 ati cards
and buy one 4870, because I came to
cheaper than MBS change
Any improvement to be expected? 2x 3870 crossfire VS. 1x 4870
and which manufacturer to buy? asus, gainward, gigabyte, sapphire ?
wich is for more overclock?
