I just wanted to thank 1Kurgan1 for recommending this to me, and to recommend it to everyone else:
My laptop got stolen, so I decided to go ahead and get a new one and 1Kurgan1 recommended this one:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9173262&type=product&id=1218044029168
And its a beast! It gets around 20-30fps on crysis on everything High, plays left4dead at like... 60 or something (ie too fast for me to care) oblivion at 100 on ultra high, its an amazing laptop, and under a grand! The lights are cool (though im already thinking about tearing it apart and changing the color... i must resist the urge... dont think that will be covered in my damage policy...) my girlfriend has already comandeered the little LCD screen to write sappy little messages for me to find at work, touch buttons are awesome, splashtop works like a charm, gets twice the 3dmark06 score as my desktop, etc etc etc etc... Its awesome.
One thing I didnt expect though: it doesnt have an s-video output. I know that sounds silly as it has hdmi output, but I have an older standard-def big screen that I used to hook the laptop up to to watch movies etc. But hey i can always build a quick media center from spare parts so no big deal. Also, as the reviews say, the sound is pretty terrible. Get some speakers. Or replace the stock ones... still havent decided if I want to take that chance either lol... gonna try the realtek mod drivers though, they helped alot on my old toshiba. So... all in all, if youre looking for a gaming laptop, this thing is awesome. I heartily recommend it, and thanks Kurgan for recommending it to me!
