System Name PM me with any suggestions.
Processor Intel Core i7 920 D0 [Watercolled]
Motherboard Asus Rampage II Extreme [Watercolled]
Cooling Dual loop watercooling
Memory 2000Mhz 7-8-7 *unbranded*
Video Card(s) Zotac GTX295 [Watercooled]
Storage Samsung SSD 64GB
Display(s) 27" DELL HD TFT
Case Silverstone TJ07 - Window modded & powder coated
Audio Device(s) SupremeFX X-Fi
Power Supply 1000w Coolermaster True Power
Software Windows 7
Benchmark Scores 4.3Ghz 24/7 Prime Stable
Product: Core i7 920 (C0)

I know this is only £50 cheaper than it is in the shops but I would like everybody to consider the fact that there is no way of guaranteeing a good overclocker when you buy from a retailer. Buying it this way you ensure that you will have a great overclocker tried and tested my none other than yours truly.

Age: Bought from Scan computers in January of this year.

Warrenty: Under warrenty from both Scan and Intel.

Condition: Like new, in box with stock fan and manual.

Reason for selling: I plan to upgrade to an EE Core i7 CPU (965/975).

Previous prime stable overclocks:
4.1Ghz/1.4vcore/HT Enabled/LOAD 70c
4.3Ghz/1.4vocre/HT Disabled/LOAD 75c

Asking Price: £200 shipped

Location: North London, Tuffnell Park

Postage: WORLDWIDE!

=) Thanks Tatty! This thread hasnt been very popular, but ive seen other i7 920s just fly! Is there somthing wrong with the way ive posted it? It is the first time I'm selling a CPU on TPU so I'm not 100% on the best way to advertise. Do you think I should take it out of my computer and take a pic of the processor its self?

It's because your in the UK matey. It happens to all us Brits. This forum is heavily US based.

Also, prices are really bad here at the moment, so i'd be surprised if anyone would be buying a complete i7 setup right now.

Yeah I gues so. By "bad" do you mean expensive? I dont think they r so bad at all. a 920 + UD3 + 3GB crucial ram wont set you back much at all.

It's like £500 for a basic i7 setup. You can get a really decent Core2 setup for £300.

Your best off saying you'll post worldwide / change the thread name.

Wish we'd see more of these... if only I had the means to buy a large batch of i7's or Core2's and cherry pick the best ones :)

Not really if you shop around, I recently upgraded and paid £415 for the whole lot but I agree, still pricey, i was lucky, between my Q9650, P45 Asus deluxe motherboard and the good Ram kit I had plus the selling of a spare Palit HD4850 1GB Sonic i actually had some change :rockout:

oh, never saw them go on the B/S/T. Was interested in that Q9650 aswell :(

I just don't think the performance can justify the price. But there again, i feel the same about SSDs. In the UK, it's £3 per GB on the 30GB models. Ouch.

Same with the nVidia High end cards. £500 on a GPU is just crazy. I spent £124 on my 4870, £140 on my 4830s and £103 on my 3870. I don't think i'd ever spend more than £200 on a GPU... unless it was an amazing offer.

As for this thread, i'd be tempted to upgrade/buy it. But id need the other parts on offer aswell. Not forgetting the heatsink.

LOL that would be really cool. Do you knwo if there is any way of getting a cherry picked CPU directly from intel? Its just that I dont want to get a 975/965 and then get to the lan with the Ln2 only to find the chip i got coolbugs at -30 or dosnt pass 200 qpi! And yes... THAT DOES HAPPEN!

In my dreams... possibly if you knew the very right person. I always wanted to hook up with a system builder who buys in batches and try it.

Back in the days of the Tualatin, I manged to try out 4 identical chips and indeed there was one that shined out from the others, and one that (relatively) sucked.

Aren't 'cherry picked' ones the Xeon series?

That's what I've read, but me thinks it's conjecture.

So what would be the best way of quickly testing to see which chip overclocks well and which one doesnt?

for the i7? Chips that can handle 2000MHz ram and BCLK over 200 with a x21 multi.
