New rig for a friend

So, I told a friend I'll build him a WoW rig.
His budget is $800 and I'm charging him $100 to assemble it (he gets free 8600gts and vista)
So $700 parts + shipping to 20905
Later on when he gets enough money I'll get him the 4870 1gb
So me and him went over his build And I decided this

I would consider a higher power supply... maybe a 650watt so you have room to upgrade

it isn't for me its for him and he has no computer smarts so he won't be upgrading

[Edit] - sorry i misunderstood the first post - i thought he had $800 for the system and an extra $100 for you (total $900) so the budget is $700 for the complete system inc. shipping right?

Also why aren't you going to be overclocking they system?

At some point he will be... what about the new video card? His he going to toss the computer after a year, 2 years maybe 3? at some point he's gonna be upgrading.

No he doesn't want me to overclock it because he wants it to last him over 2-3 years

The new card is a 4870 and thet req 500W and Im pretty sure the OCZ PSU is a good enough

is it a obsession? or the fact that the computer will be limited becuase of a weak power supply... The point is, build it right the first time so you have room to explan later. Isnt that the point of a custom built PC? He could always buy a Dell, I guess ...

There's nothing wrong with an OCZ 500w. Good quality and more than enough for what he needs. The only ting he will be upgrading in the near future is a new video card

its actualy $70 and I'm charging him $770 which is cheap considering
1. He gets vista for free
2. He gets a free 8600gts

as for HDD
he decided 250gb was enough since he only plays WoW

i have a ocz 700watt and i change it for a corsair tx750watt to run my 4870 1g.i have a lot of random crash with the ocz.

You may have been unlucky and had a dud, I'd check reviews on Newegg and other etailer sites and maybe other computer forums for reviews of your old power supply, it may or may not conclude as to why your previous psu was bad. If I'm not mistaken aren't the current OCZ supposed to be of the same quality as the PCPC parts, otherwise what was the point of buying PCPC?

now i'm running the ocz psu in my second rig with no problem at all.the built quality is really good and not noisy.
