Moving to Windows 7 x64

Hello, guys. Ths will be my last post as a Win XP Pro user.

I've decided to move to windows 7, the 64bit version. This should take advantage of my CPU, DX10 gaming and obviously, the RAM.

My question is: Is it going to be hard to find drivers in general? I understand that most vista drivers work on Seven as well, but seeing as i'm moving to 64 bit, are there any known issues?

My system is the one on the "My system" menu.

You should have no problems with hardware drivers and Windows 7.

I have had no driver issues whatsoever, I'm using the 185.68 beta driver on Win 7 atm.

I tired to installed a 64bit Win7 on my XP laptop and everything worked fine except for the sound. Could not get the sound to work no matter what I did and how many drivers I installed.

Installed a 32bit Win7 and used a XP sound driver from HP and it worked perfectly.

Might be a while before the sound drivers for x64 for certain laptops to be supported.

Ive had 0 issues with Win7 and drivers. Really 0 issues in general. Youll love it.

i assumed you had to use a win7 drive from nvidia - im on 181.71

is there any word on an update for this driver

No I'm using the 185.68 Vista Driver on Win 7, when you actually install it, it says Windows 7 driver.

Its just that it is a WDDM 1.0 driver.

They have been like that in all the 180 drivers I have tried. The 181.71 drivers gave me a tiny performance boost but disabled the 2d power save mode of my GTX 260, so I have stuck to the "Vista" drivers on Win 7.

Never played with 181.71 that long, the fact my card always ran in 3d was enough to put me off using them

Uses a conexant audio chip, you sure Win7 didnt auto install a driver, have you checked Windows Update?

I read somewhere that the you need a sound card that supports HD. So they may never have available drivers for older hardware.

Windows 7 is an incredibly friendly OS, especially the drivers!

The only con I see is with DX11 beta, it has some issues ultilizing video hardware optimally in DX10 Crysis. But other than that, its all good!

Also, keep in mind that you cannot use SMP clients in the meantime, I could use the SMP client of F@H since the account security is different.
