help on next GPU

ok so i decided to upgrade my graphics, i am thinking about moving from my 9800GTX+ (dual SLi) set up to a singel GTX 275

i was wodering which card is better, i plan to SLi i the future but kinda limited on funds atm.

hum, well there aren't any reviews with the 1,792mb version. but i would figure you wouldn't see much benefit as i don't believe the memory bus could take advantage of it, kinda like a 256-bit bus with 1GB GDDR3 memory does little good over 512mb GDDR3. plus with those games, you'll run them maxed out fine, get the reference version.

The card with more vram will show close to no gains over the standard version. Don't waste your money on it. I'm using a GTX 260 with 1920x1200 res and have been perfectly happy with it. 896mb or ram is enough. I am thinking about going GTX 275 or HD 4890 though...

Waiting for the next big card is worthless. When that card comes out, there will be something else to take it's place. If you want a card now, get a card now. If something else comes out that you think you must have, sell your current card and buy that one.

well i was reading a bit on DX11 and it dosn't make since to release DX11. i believe there are less he 100 game that play a DX10 script.

i agree with erocker, its just now May, so that's 4-5 months until new cards are "supposedly" going to come out, and if your willing to wait 5 months for new cards you'll always be waiting for the next big card. get what you want now, you'll be plenty satisfied, and i don't see any dx11 games coming out soon at all even when windows 7 and dx11 goes official as there's barely enough people to run dx10 games in the general populous, why would developers jump on dx11? the GTX 275 is a great card and should last you at least 1 year of comfortable gameplay.

i doubt that i will need a DX11 card for a a while now... i don't see myself spending $350-$400 on a single card im too much of a broke college student for that!

it's cool i understand. i rushed out to buy a DX10 card when i heard i needed one for crysis, but then i came to find out at the time my Mobo or CPU wouldn't run it so i never bought it now that i can. i don't think i will im too hooked on CoD's which modern warfare 2 is comming out this year

get a gtx 275 if u plan to do sli. Good bang for your buck, or if your psu support it, do gtx 280 sli (there is one here on tpu for sell)

i have the tx750w from corsair soi im sure i have the power to back a dual sli even with the 280's i would love to buy the 280 but i don't have to money waiting on my frind to buy may card/cards if this falls throght i will not be buying a new card... i don't have the boxs and i will not ship with out em

no don't go GTX 280 SLI, it has low minimum framerates compared to the GTX 285, dunno what it is but you can check it on xbitlabs' site, the GTX 285 has a much better minimum framerate in every game, the GTX 280's minimum framerate is below that of the HD 4890 xfire's so i can't say i'd recommend GTX 280's SLI, and if you can stretch for the GTX 280 SLI you can stretch for GTX 285 SLI.

but yea get your GTX 275 you'll be happy. goodluck getting your sale completed
