searched the thread, didn't see the answer. is this 3 slots? or will another card fit right under it?

2 slots you can fit two cards in sli but not 3

Hey, no flase hope here. it's THREE (3) slots :) (card+the cooler)

Hardly could even get my 8500GT in the other PCI-E slot. The cooler screws on it go inside the Accelero fan frame :p

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI... GTX 275 OC 27XIF9HMAEXX Video Card - Retail (second picture)

There you can see and I think you can see it's 3 slots in my case shot, or at least I had a one straight above.

edit:

And that orange slot has a passive 8500GT in it, if it looks like you can't fit anything there. Too lazy to take a new shot :)

If this is your (freaksavior) motherboard:
http://www.images.clunk.org.uk/reviews/dfi-ut-x58-t3eh8/dfi-ut-x58-full-board-no-extra-cooling.jpg
Then the cooler will use up all the yellow slots.

Green ones would work in SLI, if you don't have PSU in bottom and seems like Stacker 832 doesn't, if that's the case you use it in.

Some sort of plate there on the bottom though, that the cooler would make contact using bottom slot?

He's right, it actually is closer to three slot. I was thinking closer to two when I installed mine and ended up having to drop my sound card down a couple of slots. I don't think you could easily SLI these unless your slots were pretty far apart and you didn't want anything else in an expansion slot. The cooler is a beast. Other than my complaints with the VRM temps (which I still haven't solved) I really like it.

To check the temps use GPU-Z. I think it only works with the GTX280 and cards that have the sensor. GTX285 doesn't have one. The VRM temps are the ones that have VDDC Temperature next to them.

Nice review.:)

Thanks :)

So I just assembled my GTX280 with an Arctic Cooling Accelero GTX280. I bought the set of Enzotech sinks and a set of scythe sinks as mentioned in the article. When I run Furmark my VRMs get up to like 114C. I have no idea why my results are so off. I cut about 3-3.5 mm off each sink so it would fit on the VRM and I used the included thermal paste/pad things. Any ideas why my results on the VRMS are so much worse? Otherwise my GPU temp is fantastic, 56C max.

Here are the posts I mentioned you about in PM:

Drop some more PM if those don't help enough.

Got my cooler put on my 285.

I bought some nice ramsinks and modded them to fit the VRMs. I also put a mobo chipset heatsink on the little secondary chip on the card.

http://www.tweakmonster.com/products/ramsinkpage.htm

I got them from my shop dirt cheap as a clear out.

32 BGA sinks for like $5 after tax... lol.

These things kick the crap out of any other I have used. Very VERY heavy in weight, chrome outside, copper inside (found out as a surprise when I was trimming some of the sinks to fit).

Very stealth looking card with those sinks and nice pictures thebeephaha :) Awesome price on them too.

Is that NVIO heatink some asus motherboard southbridge sink? Think I have similar one somewhere, pretty cool it fits with just a little rotate.

Nnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooo.....!!!

Too many people are frying their cards and running up huge electricity bills on this one ;)

Seriously though this GPU test can pull well over 80 amps so if your card has any weaknesses or any VRM sinks are not firmly attached then don't be surprised if you hear a loud "pop" when running it...

you have never lied hot as hell.

I just had to say, awesome review/guide! I just got a BFG GTX 280 OCX, and I'm planning on picking up the Accelero Extreme GTX 280 cooler. However, I'm now in the market for someone's GTX 260/280 heatsink, so I don't have to damage mine. :D

I've been a member of overclock.net for a little over a year now, and I have learned so much in that little time. I joined here to expand my knowledge some more. ;)

I'm really happy that forums like these exists, because you can gain so much knowledge! I've never forayed into the aftermarket GPU cooler scenario, but I really want to see how far I can push this baby.

Once again, OnBoard, great thread, and I look forward to learning a lot of new things here.

Demented71, I just did the installation it's not that bad. The one thing I'd recommend is that you at least give the enzotechs a shot. If you find someone who is willing to sell their old stock heatsink and everything there's no way it's cheaper than the 10 bucks or so you can get a set of the enzos for.

My results aren't as good as Bikers were, but that's only during Furmark. During gaming and folding my temps are good on the VRMs. If you're American you can get the enzos from Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011

I can post pics of the installation of them if you'd like.

Thanks, I'm glad people have enjoyed it :) You got some nice clocks going on your card, looking more like GTX 285, at least after Accelero installation :p

Like Demented71 is saying below, enzotechs is an alternative too, if you don't want to hurt your stock cooler.

Do post pictures, they are always nice and welcome.

Hi folks, first time posting here.
I got an eVGA 275... it was pushing at 89C, which is way too hot for me. I have an Antec P180, got 1 120mm at the bottom, 1 at the top, 1 in the front, and 1 in the back, so my cooling is sufficient, my Processor has a Noctua push/pull...

I ordered a Accelero Xtreme and some Scythe heatsinks, so my question is, where the heck should I put those, I thought it would be almost the same as the 285GTX on the inside, boy was I really wrong...
Can someone help me by maybe circling what I need to do, kind of like what was done with the picture of the GTX285?

Pardon the Thermal Pads, as this was the only pic I could find online...

Thanks Again for all of these threads, they were really useful.

Onboard look at the size of the middle post looks like hes gonna have trouble getting the rear heatsink level , looks like a none ref PCB.
