I am curious to know how many would actually prefer to buy Win7 if made available online vs maill order, store, etc?

Because I will be getting legally via online download...

Edit: I voted "Other", as I will recieve a copy of Business Edition via my MSDN account through the collage I graduated from. I will also recieve a copy of Ultimate Edition via my works Action Pack subscription.

Though, if I had to buy it, I would buy a physical OEM DVD from a retailer like newegg.

Yes - but only if it was a CD image or something that could prep a USB stick for a clean install.

When I was about to buy vista X64 online they only had .exe installers, which was totally pointless.

I would *prefer* it, but the Microsoft Store only carries the upgrade and retail versions, no OEM. So I'll most likely be getting a disc, and buying additional licenses as needed.

I'll buy it online. Retail versions of Windows (Vista and XP) are are priced significantly lower here than they are in US and EU.

Online with the ability to access downloads of the ISO at any time, and I'm not limiting this to just Win7, any OS or Office that is available that I bought.

Technet - good deal if you want or have to use other MS products.

Edit: Oh, also good if you have a folding/crunching farm. A one year technet subscription will pay for itself if you have 3 machines or more - for the first year at least. However the keys should be good even after that if you don't renew, but would appreciate it if someone could confirm.

Read Only Memory = ROM if you really want to get it right!

My university provides all sort of legit microsoft products for free, they have a office here where you can request those softwares from microsoft, my office and vista all came from there. Though they are only available to engineering students

i would buy and download, because that is likely to be cheapest. download/torrent a cheap to distribute ISO file, and basically pay for the key.

Even when i buy legit OS's, first thing i do is rip to an ISO, and with vista/7 an installer goes straight to a flash drive and i never use it off a DVD again.

for something like an operating system i'd rather have the physical disc and case and all that jazz from microsoft if im going to pay for it. If it was free (like Vista was for me, got them through MSDNAA) then i wouldn't care.
