screen resolution

What screen resolution for my 47 in lcd?
I have a dual monitor set up which a 17 in crt and then the tv for watching movies I haven't used it for that yet but I just got a blue ray player and want to us it and would like to know what everyone thinks.

Not sure i understand, but for a 47" TV - i'd get no less than 1920x1080.

Is this a TV or Monitor, and do you have any links?

It's a HD LCD TV that has computer inputs on it.

What model TV? Just look up the specs on whatever TV you have and run at the recommended resolution.

I'm pretty sure it'll be 1920x1080 if it's a TV. All you need to do is plug in the Computer and Windows will only let you go to the max.

But i don't recommend using the desktop at 1080p if your sat at a resonable distance. I've lowered mine to 1280x768 so that text is clear. Then if im watching a 1080p film, i just whack it up to 1080p.

You SHOULD only use native resolution. Make sure you are using DVI or HDMI input. Go to display properties and set DPI from 96 to 120dpi. That will "fix" the text being too small.

DONT go unnative resolution or all the fonts/graphics will be bigger but blurred.

I think thats the issue, for him it is easier to read the bigger, yet blurry text.

I have to do similar with my 42" LCD HDTV. If I am sitting in a chair closer to it, I can run at 1080p and read the text just fine. But if I sit across the room, which I do a lot since sitting up close hurts my neck after a while, then I can't read the small text at 1080p. Switching to 720p makes the text readable at far distances, with minimal blur.

LCDs have evolved, the native resolution is still the clearest, however as long as you are using a resolution that is the same aspect ratio, they are pretty good at scaling without making everything blurry.

Zenith E44W46LCD and zenith is now owend by lg It doesn't have any hdmi ports but it has two component Y PB PR inputs and one DVI input and one that says upgrade portand a few older style inputs and out puts.

Looks like an older rear projection LCD HDTV. Probably stick with 720p on that model.

Page 14 shows hook up to computer and it is only 1080i. You will not see a big difference between 720p or 1080i. You won't get your blu-ray 1080p experience...for that you will need HDMI w/HDCP. Well, here is a good write up on this subject:http://tv.about.com/od/hdtv/a/hdmidvihdcp.htm

Maximum resolution is 1280x720(720p), so that is pretty much your only option. 1080i will be scaled by the TV, so it probably won't look as good as 720p anyway.
