Seems like this game popped up out of no where, the trailer looks interesting, and the pre-order available on steam. Looks like it might hold me over tell es4 is released.

I've been waiting for the game's US/EU release for quite a while now, looks very good - especially since it's been out in Korea for a while so it should be very polished from day 1 (which may be a first for an MMO in the US/EU). I'm glad they've removed much of the grindfest that the Korean version had and made it a lot more managable - my one worry for the game was if they left it needing the same amount of time as the korean version it would be so slow but since that's gone it is looking good.

Me, I'm in a TOSS UP between this game and Champions. Both games look great, and if they can get some backing behind them, they won't fall like Hellgate and that other one did... Aion does look like it has the feel of wow, but more updated graphics. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I know steam has pre-order special on this game if you buy it now..

Its not popped out of know where - Its been in Beta tested in Korea for a while now. Ive know about the games existance since last year, & it should be hitting the rest of Europe soon. Q4 of this year (or Q3/4 next year in direct competition with Guild Wars 2. - another NCsoft game made by ArenaNet which is part of the NCsoft Corporation.)

its been a long time coming

aion for one thing in it, if you don't find the quests you will grind a good bit in it, you can't just play it for like a min and then say you don't like it you have to play till you get your wings.

I'm in the beta for Aion but I missed the most recent one where you could play til level 20. So I can only comment on the first couple levels. It so far doesn't offer anything really revolutionary for an MMO. The combat system isn't unique, yes a bit different but it picks it's style up from other games currently on the market.

Don't get me wrong, it's relatively fun to play. I'll probably pick it up if a couple of my friends decide to buy it.

I might look into it. but Im against paying subcription fees for games that you have already 'bought'

when you subscribe to a newspaper or magazine they dont charge you 20-30p just to read a page. so why should it be any different for online games??

saying that though, If they provide a lot of content for the ££ that you spend then. Or maybe they will run a scheme like LoTrO - 1 off payment for a lifetime subscription. then maybe it might be worthwhile.

The problem without a subscription just means that you won't get as many updates, maybe minor ones to fix bugs but no new content patches. Don't expect to see subscriptions disappear ever.

But no main content patches without an expansion.

Take a look at world of warcraft, Blizz adds a new part of the game every main patch 3.1, 3.2 etc etc. Only reason they will still develop new content without charging for it is the subscription fee.

Not to mention upkeep on their servers is no doubt expensive.

in ch beta it was free for a while then you had to pay by the hour, I tried it for a while but it got too expensive and I quit

anyone try the us beta, when you log and start playing does it say anything in the chat box about time remaining.

Nope, nothing about time remaining, but it's weekends only so far.

I'm waiting for Mortal Online.

That game is going to have a very limited fan base. Basically taking Age of Conan combat system another step further. The Free for All PvP is going to be a bit rough, Dark Age of Camelot had servers specifically set up like that and there weren't a lot of people on those servers at any given time. The part where you drop all your loot upon death, I highly doubt that this is going to go anywhere as the people with the better gear will no doubt end up just wiping everyone out. There is a niche for this type of game, but it isn't a very big one at least in my opinion.

You clearly never played pre-trammel UO. Gears won't matter all that much in this game, this aint WoW. It is meant to be a hardcore PvP game with full player driven economy, a skill based system rather than a Level system, etc. It basically is taking the concept that pre-trammel UO had, and pushing it further. I hate the idea that current MMOs have atm...everything is without consequences. You die? Here get a free teleport to the nearest city!

I could care less if there are not as many people as there are people playing other generic MMOs, in fact I'm glad the fan base won't be the usual WoW whiner...dealt with them for 4 years, and it's enough. I just hope it doesn't fail like Darkfall Online did....eventho I heard it's starting to shape up with the patches and the expansion coming out. :rockout:

Of course there will always be the hardcore pvp'er, hence the comment about the small niche it will have. The game won't really go very far at least from what I can tell, I'm willing to bet it will start out similar to Age of Conan. At the start there were plenty of people, then after the first month or two the majority of people just left.

The part that seems strange to me is that, when you start you only need a little bit of time to get to end game content. Great in concept but that doesn't give people time to learn the game which some sort of leveling system is good for.

Aion doesn't look too bad, I might give it a try, but probably not something I would stick with.

But yeah, in a game like Mortal, there is no real "End Game" content. Everyone is part of the world and are making it what is it. I'm gonna take Ultima Online as an example again. There was no real "End Game", some people were black smiths, some were tailors, some were shop keepers, etc. These people were needed for the more fighting type of people. PKs, Anti-PKs, Factioners, Guild fighters, Chaos/Order, etc. It's just a dynamic world, and people know that you are not playing this game for the uber leet gear for dragon killing with 40 dudes.

I can't say about tera, but blade and soul is aimed @ at different audience than Aion. Aion is magic fantasy, where as blade and soul is more martial arts focused.

As for the game, I really enjoy it. Been in the NA closed beta since the 2nd (4th starts in 50 min :toast:). There are a few similarities to wow, but unlike wow, its a lot more pvp focused for endgame. New instances are being introduced where you have to pvp to take a fortress so you can have access to them. I think it has a lot of potential

And now people are getting back to AoC because it's getting better and better. ;)

People are getting back into AoC because they are finally getting to finish the game unlike when it was released. :p
