I'm looking to up grade my wife's 939 board with either (preferably) an Athlon 64X2 4800+ 2.4GHz (Toledo) 939 socket CPU or an Athlon 64X2 4400+ 2.2GHz (Toledo) 939 socket CPU. Anyone that might have one of these and is looking to sell it, I would be very interested in purchasing.
I live in the US and am only looking to buy within the states...Thxxx for any and all feedback !.... :)

I sold a 4800+ 939 on e bay last month for $218.00 .It's ridiculous what these things are going for(just a little warning).A person can buy a whole new board, proc, and ram for that amount .
You might want to give thirdshiftdj a P.M. about his opty 165 he has for sale.A little bit of overclock will match the 4800+.And his price was reasonable.

Thanks for the heads up...yes I was a bit disappointed with what was going on over at eBay....asking prices were higher than I expected on the 4800. That's why I'm keeping an eye out for the 4400 also.. But I'll just keep looking for a while, see what I can come up with...

Thxxx GM....;)

Benchmark Scores Nyooom.
one thing to keep in mind is that 939 processors and DDR1 ram are end of life - no one makes it anymore, so its just leftover stuff floating around.

even if its old and not 'worth' much, the dollar cost will be high since there is demand and no supply.

if you cant find a good deal, look at upgrading to a budget AM2+ system on DDR2 - you can reuse most of the PC with no concern, and its upgradeable (a max of 8GB of ram and compatible AM3 CPU's will leave your wife with a decent PC for some time)

Your right about everything you just said...this stuff is at end of life and not being produced anymore. These are recycled parts being sifting through and from what I see there is a huge demand for 939 socket hardware causing this stuff to cost really to much...I could not believe it ! ....
Thing is, the 939 socket is still very good, maybe not for a decent gaming rig at today's standards, but for most everyday apps, it runs strong.
I have a Athlon 64 3000+ in a great gigabyte 939 board now. My thinking was to max out the cpu at what I thought was going to be a relatively inexpensive price.....Ohhhh right....Christ, I just bought a Q9550 for less than what some of these guys are paying for a 64 X2 4800+...Unreal ~!
I want to hang on to that 939 board, but may have go a different route on this...maybe a 3800 or 4000 64 X2. Or maybe not..like you guys are saying this stuff is end of road and too expensive for what it really is.
I was pricing out the DDR1 memory and it's as or more expensive than the DDR2 in my system for less memory.
Mussels, your idea of converting over to an AM2+ system makes more sense...I noticed prices for those sockets were almost reasonable and compared to the 939 hardware, down right cheap.
I already bought a Corsair 400w ps and a CM Hyper N520 for this. Was looking to buy new ram anyway, so going DDR2 would be giving me better bang for the dollar. Looking for a decent AM2+ MB and cpu would probably save me more in the long run. I have a 9800Pro, X800 XT PE AGP and a 7900GTX Pci-e graphics cards I can use depending on what I need and can reuse just about all the other existing parts including the case.
If I do that, I may as well sell my 939 stuff and see how much I can over charge for it like everyone else...
If anyone out there does have something in a 64 X2 3xxx or 4xxx for a 939 socket they want to sell, I'm still going to look around a bit more...please let me know here or PM me....If I can't find anything reasonable, I'll most likely post for some AM2 hardware.

Thxxx for all your time.....:)

You may want to consider the 4200x2: http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-ATHLON-64-X...in_0?hash=item27ab6a4fb4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
For $75, it's a lot cheaper & these things get pretty good OC's

Stubbs,

Thanks for the nice heads-up....I was lowereing my sights down to the 3800,4000 and this 4200....(for some reason I just kept avoiding that cpu...)... you found is just about in the same price range. For what I'm going to use this chip for, I'm sure it will work just fine.......:toast:

I'm still floored by what prices for a (939) 4400x2 & 4800x2 are going for....

75.00...it was a little more than I wanted to pay but it seems most of the 939 socket stuff is getting a high price atm....
If your looking for a 64 X2 4200+ 939..Exeodus contacted me with one for sale, you might want to give him a PM.
