I need a motherboard recomendation.
Must be socket 775.
Must support latest 45nm Quads and duals.
Must support 533FSB Processors.(Celeron D)
Must be a decent overclocker with modern processors.
Relatively cheap is a must, around $100 is probably the max here.
I was hoping for something like a P45 or P35 board, but I don't think these chipsets support 533FSB processors.
An nVidia 780i or 750i would probably work, but I'm not sure if they support 533FSB processors. The most I can find is claims that they haven't been tested.
I've got the P5B, which is 965P based, and fits the bill, but I'm not sure how it will handle overclocking modern processors. It needs to be able to get a Q6600 to 3.0GHz, and some 45nm duals up to 3.0GHz as well, I just don't know if it is up to the task.
I'll probably be testing my 780i board with a 533FSB processor before I make any decisions, just to see if it will work. If it does, I'll just use that, but I'd like some other suggestions.
Anyone out there with newer motherboards and some old Celerons laying around want to test for me? Or anyone already tried putting older Celerons in newer boards?
