Wow who hit 878mhz on the GPU and how? I'm seeing 820 - 830, someone figure out how to bump the voltage? Also wow that price is unreal.

so...hard...to...resist... And the only real reason anyone really needs better cards right now is still to play Crysis at the "sweet spot" I swear that game was created to sell hardware!

And why is that? Things like those cards still hold their performance crowns for their price points. To get rid of those cards before the 5770 releases is a fantastic idea as that will dethrone these cards and drop their prices substantially. So selling any of those 3 you listed you can still get back a good return and pick up the 5850 for a great price, comes with a Dirt 2 coupon so really the card is only about $200, thats unreal. :nutkick:

Yup. I'm just sittin back in my chair and watching it all go by. Though, we've both been guilty of buying stuff just to play with it. ;) I'm itching to try one of these cards out, but I'm almost emotionally atatched to this 4890. It's pure awesome. Plus, I guess there's nothing I play that would require a more powerful card. Dirt 2 will force me to buy something new. I can't wait for that game.

The way I look at it is, the 5870 will be dropping in price, I'm sure the 5850 will drop a bit, but not that much. It's faster than a GTX285, everyone expected it to release at $40 more than it did, and to top that off the GTX285 is more expensive. I just cant see the 5850 going under $200 anytime real soon, I'm going to try and pick one up, with the release of the 5850 it kind of makes the 5870 pointless, I didn't expect such a huge price gap between them.

I can see them being under 200 simply for the fact they will sell a ton more of them when it's there. Of course they are going to have to catch up with stocking them, but they will very soon.

Matters what kind of a return you can make on the 285, the cheapest on newegg is still $325. So if you can get rid of it for the cost of a 5850 or even possibly more than the cost of a 5850 I would go for it. If you can't, I would be happy with what you got, that card is close to 5850 performance.

I can see them being under 200 simply for the fact they will sell a ton more of them when it's there. Of course they are going to have to catch up with stocking them, but they will very soon.

That is true about dropping to any price, same with 150 or 100, but with the performance of he card, there is and will be people lining up for these for a while. And even when there isn't I still think it will be a while. It is still hard to get 4890's under $200 and then been out a while (what I mean by hard is they really arent that much under $200).

Well X-Mass is coming up soon too so people will start buying things to give away. Most people will not spend more than 200 if not 100. Dec is still 3 months away, and black Friday is still 2 months away. I bet the card will be around 200 soon, and then by black Friday creeping down really low allowing the 70 card under the 200 mark. They would then have the 50x2 a step higher along with the 70x2 around no higher than 350.

That's just a guess but X-Mass really gets them moving down in price to sell in volume.
