I've looked all over this and other forums and can't find where to get the stuff. I need to take apart my 4870x2 to clean it because the temps are getting too high and causing system lock ups.

Also, is it possible to just remove the top cover while leaving hte fan and heatsinks in tack?

Thanks

Are there any B&M stores that carry the stuff or is it mostly online?

I don't know what B&M store is, but you could try calling around at local hardware stores to see if they carry it.

*Just got it. Brick and mortar. :D

Sometimes these are hard to come by. You can also use TESA thermal double sided tapes.
These have ultra strong adhesive on both sides, it's very thin and can withstand temperatures up to 200°C. zbogi from OC-Lab recommended it and it really works great. I'm using it ever since.
These TESA tapes are red colored rolls. Quite expensive but worth every cent.

No, this isn't possible, the cover is retired to channel the air over the heatsinks, the card would quickly overheat and lock up without it
