$600 Budget Gaming Rig

Can anyone else come up with anything better? Just curious, cannot go over $600 shipped to 27616, new parts only.

Micro build is necessary, I chose AM3 for future upgrades. There will not be any overclocking, so I don't really see any reason for a Black Edition processor. I know the power supply isn't top notch, I haven't personally had any issue with rosewill PSU's. Same with the motherboard, absolutely zero issues with ASRock in the 3-4 systems I've built with them. I'm definitely open to suggestions.

LGA775 will eventually dwindle and die off once i3 comes out, at least that's what I'm assuming. So a 775 build isn't exactly the most practical way of going about it, for future upgradeability.

This system will be used for gaming on a 1080p TV, so 1920x1080 of which the 4870 won't have ANY issues whatsoever.

Good choice between AMD and Intel. AMD generally has better processors for less. Intel has the i7 though >.<

As for the rest, it seems fine. However, a 630W PSU isn't necessary. Your system needs maybe a 450W-500W PSU. Look at a good quality PSU with that kind of wattage and you'll be much better off. Look at a brand like Corsair, OCZ, FSP, Seasonic, Cooler Master, or Thermaltake. They all make quality PSUs. Especially with a processor that only pulls 65W. Mine pulls like 125W or something and I run my rig on a 400W Corsair PSU.

I was looking in the 400 to 500 watt range but the one that was chosen was because currently it has an email special marking it down from 90 and fell straight into the available price range. If you can point me to another 80 plus power supply in the price range left I'd be surprised

Looks pretty good, but I have to agree, go with a Corsair CX400w. Also, I prefer the design of the Cooler Master Elite 341 because it has a 120mm fan in the back (the 541 only supports a pair of 80mm fans). That would allow you to save $8 on a fan, which could be spent on this Gigabyte motherbaord instead

Also could switch out the board and go AM2+, would turn this to be a little cheaper and you MIGHT be able to get an X4 610 in there instead.

If you want to upgrade this rig later, I wouldn't go with micro ATX. Also, I don't think a good modular could be found at that price range.

forgot PSU... Link (The PSU you had listed before is fine dude) though i'd get a 550W Rosewill Model. never had any issues man with Rosewill. my 600W is powering two 4850's no problem.

Thank you on the case suggestion, I knew I'd seen one with dual 120's instead of the 80's I couldn't remember exactly what it was called. I've had a few issues with low end Gigabyte boards in the past, I love their upper end stuff though. I was really trying to get a power supply with two pci-e. The modular listed later in thread doesn't seem too bad I'll look into that.

I don't see anything wrong with a Micro for upgrading anything in this rig, the only things that may ever be upgraded are the Video Card and Processor of which I don't think any of the AM3 board will have issues with in the future.

Modular is nice, I love my HX620 but usually pushing modular gets expensive, the one you linked in your later post is an interesting idea.

I assume that eventually AMD will drop DDR2 controllers from there processors, so the upgrade path would be broken, I may be wrong on this as it probably doesn't cost a lot to keep the controller in there.

Honestly this guy will never need a quad, as nice as that chip is. I believe it would be unnecessary heat and power wasted.

You're a bit over budget(including shipping) easily fixed by dropping the 4890 to 4870 and removing the cooler that won't ever be used

Thanks for the good ideas, I'll rework it a bit later and see if I can't come up with something a little better.
