HELP me to decide

Hi all,I'm new here.....

Im planing to upgrae my gfx card.@ the moment im usin a Foxconn 8400GS :banghead:

My PC Specs >>> Core2Quad Q6600 @ stock :cool:

ASUS P5Q PRO Mb :cool:

1GB X 2 DDR2 1066MHz RAM
160GB SATA HDD
Samsung 22X DVDRW
Foxconn 8400GS 256MB :banghead:

I'm Planing to buy either a 9800GT or a HD4830 (Both are at same price).What would be the best choice.

whats your PSU?? i would go for the 4830 as its newer model while the 9800GT is an re-named of the 8800GT,in some cases the 4830 has performed abit better than 9800GT but in other case 9800GT has been better card but i would go for 4830,but if you can try paying a little bit more buy a 4850 as its a better card than both if you have a good PSU.

Will definitely work on your system. You might also want to consider a Radeon 4770 as it's a little faster, but also uses a little more power. I'm not sure if it would be too much, maybe someone else wants to chime in.

More importantly is what brand of PSU is it. That rated wattage means nothing without knowing if it is a quality PSU. If your answer is "It's a generic piece of crap", then take a step back and buy yourself a new PSU before you even think about a new card. If your PSU is decent, then a 4830 would be perfect for the power you have to work with.

agreed 4830 if the psu is legit

Also, if you choose an ATi card you have the option of Crossfire in the future (If you upgrade your PSU)
