Screen goes blank??Nothing Appears..

Hello frnds,
this is my first post in this forum,
When I play any game like Street Fighter IV,GTA IV or do some heavy work in Photoshop,Illustrator.....also when I try to install new fresh window in my system..after few minute nothing appear in the screen,screen goes blank but sound is coming,machine is running... I m not able to find wht is the problem? can you help me plz??

My PC Config:

Intel C2Q600 2.4Ghz
Asus P5K Premium WIFI-AP
ATI Radeon 3650 512MB DDR3
4x1GB DDR2 667 MHz
500GB HDD
Cooler Master xtreme 500W PSU

the screen going blank would normally indicated some kind of problem with the video card.

It could also be the PSU (coolermaster PSU's are common, but they're also very cheap, and often poor quality)


can you look in the catalyst control center (CCC) or GPU-Z and find out the temperature of the GPU on the video card?

Normal Temp in CCC and GPU-Z are same 52C.Playing movie

try with a game, or activity that normally causes the blank screen.

make sure you tick the box to update while GPU-Z is in the background

if it doesnt turn on AT ALL, then the power supply is dead. if so, buy something better than coolermaster next time.

if it turns on but only after its had time to cool down, then something is overheating.

i would *not* be using that PC in its current state with the GPU overheating like that.

it takes 5-6 hrs to cool down or work fully functionally....

wht do you mean by this line

Just recapping what your saying Mussels.

OK here, once everything cools down, attempt running it with side panel off. If you still have issues check your gpu temps and if those seem rather low compared to what they were before then it's power supply.

I m running my system with both panel off....can you suggest me a good power supply???

Antec, Corsair, FSP, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, Seventeam, Topower, Xigmatek, Zalman. Pretty much anything from those companies, You may want to get another 500W.

Ok, while your at it get a new cooler for your video card.

I dont have enough knowledge abt graphics card cooler,can you suggest me??

what i mean is that using your PC now, is going to permanently destroy it.


its like your car engine overheating - you fix the leak in the radiator before driving it around, unless you want the motor to die.

Zalman VF700 or VF900. Not too big in size and pack a huge punch.

at this stage we know two things.


1. The video card is overheating, and badly.

2. the system is refusing to power on sometimes.


#2 could be because the video card is too hot, and is taking time to cool down. It could also be that the PSU is failing.



if you cannot change the PSU or the GPU cooler, then your PC is screwed.

edit: i misread, you said you didnt know how to DECIDE, i thought you said you couldnt DO either.

since you had 100C+ GPU temps, GPU cooler should come first.

IMO, go with a new gpu cooler. Truly do think it's just overheating, whiloe your at it what's the temps on the CPU like? This may be case airflow related.

your video card is overheating for sure, we dont know about your CPU yet. use the program realtemp to test that
