Well, I have a choice between a PSP ($199 for Handheld, ~$50 for Memory Stick, and ~$50 for Game), Nintendo DS ($130 for Handheld, ~$50 for Game), or an Apple iPod 30GB Video (Just $240-$250).

So...which one?

I like to listen to music a lot, so an iPod will go well, but a PSP holds songs too, but not as much. But I also like to game on the go, or when all of the TV's are taken, so a Nintendo DS will go well, but a PSP can do both. But which one?

I'm kinda leaning 30% DS, 35% iPod Video, and 35% PSP. The reason why the PSP and iPod are tied at 35% is because the PSP would cost more, about $50+ more. If price was the same, it would be 30/30/40...

True, it's in WideScreen to. And when I do travel, I would be charging it at the same time, so not too much to worry about battery. But yeah, I heard battery life is short.

But if I get a PSP, it will be one from newegg, and also a SanDisk 2GB, and GTA Liberty City Stories.

honestly i would go with the iPod. i have both, a PSP and a iPod video. i looove my iPod, im a huge music fan. i put Lost, Family Guy, SNL, anything i want on it and its not too bad quality. honestly the psp is pretty cool at first. but once you get over the whole "psp is going to rock" thing, its not as good as you expect. sure it has a nice screen, but really how much are you going to watch on it? not as much as you would think. but, i really do miss my PSP (i bricked it last fall :( ) Tony Hawk is such a great game.
so if you are a big music fan and also like videos, go with the iPod. the PSP is fun but it gets old faster (and its bulkier)

ps. umd movies arent worth it so thats not an excuse for the PSP also having movie watching capabilities ;)

I guess you're right...but I do love music, but also, I love to game. And GTA was so great on the PS2, and Liberty City Stories is out on the PSP, and Vice City Stories is going to come out soon. And who knows, maybe San Andreas Stories?

One thing is for sure, the DS is out, so just iPod and PSP.

PSP Pros:
-Games
-Music
-Video/Movies
-WideScreen

PSP Cons:
-Short Battery Life
-Price
-UMD Not That Great
-Weight/Size

iPod Pros
-Tons of Music Space
-Tons of Video Space
-Great Sound + Video Quality
-Decent/Long(er) Battery Life

iPod Cons
-Battery Not Too Long
-Got Jacked Once, Can Get Jacked Again?

So...between these two I guess...Love games, Love music, Love Videos...so hard.

http://www.cowonglobal.com/product/product_iaudio_hdd.php

the x5 and x6 are killer

these players also support any audio format you want to throw on them insted of the ipods VERY VERY limmited format support.

per size vorbis(ogg) is the best quility audio codec you can find, a 128k .ogg file is considered transpairnt, where as it takes 192k for mp3 to get that rating and thats only with latest laim versions.

also vorbis has a moded encoder that supports sse2/3 and multi threding depending on the moded encoder.

http://homepage3.nifty.com/blacksword/index.htm

use that with foobar2k or my favorite dbpoweramp, also this moded vorbis encoder can do insainly high quility at lowest possable bitrate(vbr aprox 48kbps) audio books sound 100% the same, music is at least as good quility as 128k mp3 if not better.

the moded encoders can encode a 48min audio file to vorbis in all of 2min 20sec, thats FAST AS HELL!!!!

my buddy has 2 x5's and an x6(one of the x5's was stolen then cops gave it back, trying to get him to give me one of them lol)

i would strongly consider them or other brands that support more audio formats :)

i think the ds, esp the lite, is the best handheld gamer out there, so i would go ipod for music (or maybe a different mp3 player if you are feeling not so applish), esp those jets

personally, i wouldn't buy the psp until they come out with a decent mgs game for it!

My last 2 MP3 players were Archos, a Gmini220 and currently a Gmini400, recently the 5xx series have been released though I didn't bother to look at their specs though.

Personally I simply hate Ipods, crap controls (which many seems to love) and limited use as external harddrive. A PSP is simply too large to put in your pocket to listen music on my way to/from work, church, toystore or wherever.

ipod=prepair for trobble if u drop it/sit on it/jar it wrong.

my buddy works for bestbuy they see so many of them that the control stoped working OR the hdd died on OR that the bad died on(wont hold a charge) the results the same"rma if you have a warr" if not you can "pay for repairs" or "buy a new one" they see so many due to bestbuy exchange warr deals that his stores considering dumping them as its causting them to much to deal with rma's/returns on them.

if you need an app to put stuff on a player try the dbpoweramp tool, works great on every unit i have tryed it on even ipod ^^

You can go on the internet on the PSP too cant you ;)

But yea, i reckon the downfall to the PSP is the bulkyness...which is ok cus of the large screen...

I've got all 3, and I barely touch my PSP save for ROMs and Tales of Eternia, and my DS plays more GBA games (pokémon and FFT mainly :p) than DS games.

ive had my black iPod video since christmas and haven't had any problems with it at all. i think all these people that return them to best buy dont know what the hell they are doing when it comes to electronics and are careless with their device (dropping it, "jarrring it wrong"). as for the battery life? its not as bad as everyone says. as long as you dont watch 2 full length movies in a row or sit there on your ass for hours at a time, the battery life is fine. i listen to my ipod at work almost all day long and it holds the charge.

the iaudio x6 gives aprox 20hrs batt life under normal use.

and droping your mp3 player happens alot, im not talking droping it from he 2nd floor just as you take it out of ur pocket, or jarring it as you go down stairs with the ipod in coat pocket having it hit the rail.

sometimes they last great, others they just stop working or after a small jolt/jar they quit :(

my buddys who have iaudios and irivers have never had to do RMA's dispite seeing rods h320 fall down a flight of stairs when it fell out of his coat pocket as we where moving a reclyner from his ex's place to his(her appt is on 3rd floor, no elevader.....icky) it had some scuff marks, but it fired right up and has worked for 2 years since :) do that with your ipod see if its still working, well if its under warr :p

oh and bestbuy(the one he works at anyway) tests the units b4 they rma them, 98% are bad the other 2% have little querks, they get rmaed anyway, they had one they didnt rma because it was so fryed, but he took the hdd out and was able to use it in his rio karma(great players) the hdd was fine but the controls where bugged out and the screen was fryed, casing had small cracks, duno what the moron did with that one lol, probbly sat on it or something.

I vote ipod nano with a nintendo DS. Ds games blow anything the psp can even begin to offer, out of the water.. and the nanos are beautiful... :D

One reason why I am going for an iPod Video is that I have tons of videos/movies for it, and I have many songs on my iTunes account for it too.

A PSP is also great, I really want to play GTA on it.

thats what im sayin Azn, like Caboose said, alot of people would love one. they seem and look great but people expect way too much from it. a psp is fun, no doubt about that. but think of how many hours of music and movies you can enjoy. if i could, i would suggest you get both. but in this situation the iPod is the better choice

From newegg.com (might buy from Best Buy)

Apple iPod 30GB Black 5th Gen- $249.99 + Shipping

Sony PlayStation Portablem + GTA: Liberty City Stories + SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo 1GB + PSP Accesory Pack- $289.99 + Shipping

So overall, a few more $ ($40 more) and I can get a PSP...hmm...really something to consider.

Yeah...true. From Best Buy, it's $289.99 w/out the Accesories.

Should I get the accesories? Or get a battery/charger instead?
