Well, I just left it at 100Mhz (default). I believe there is little or no perf. gain, and if you go too high, data might corrupt. You can try though, and if you break something, "I'm sure it's nothing that throwing a lot of money at won't fix".;)

pcie bus speed just increases the bandwidth from cpu to video card. you may see a small improvement in some benchmarks, but it generally does not improve your fps.

if you have a lowend card like x1300 with hypermemory (= uses main memory for video ram) you can see good gains in fps, but other than that it's better to leave it at 100 mhz which is the spec. most ati cards run stable up to the 120 mhz range

take in to account that the frequency if the bus is taken as referance frequency for its own frecuency generators, so modifing the pci-e bus speed will modify the memory and gpu frequencies, causing problems

I've seen cards that can handle up to 120Mhz PCI-e speeds. My current card seems to have a problem at anything above 112. And that's a problem for me, because it limits my FSB!

Back in the 440BX days, the AGP bus (66MHz spec) was the bottleneck, with some cards happy up to the 85 Mhz range, but most topping out at 75. All (or most) of the 440BX boards had no AGP/PCI divider options.

Personally, if you can lock it to 100, keep it there - you will get significant results if you OC the Video GPU or Memory itself, not the PCI-e bus... and stability is definitely worth something :)

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
If you have to play with it at all, set it to 105MHz. Anything beyond this I highly doubt you will see any gains. Even in that 5MHz theres almost nothing to speak of. only time adjusting the frequency could come in handy is with G80 or R600.
