Some 5970 benches nice card

Sorry never got around to posting benches at 4.6.I did some benches made little to no difference.
Think there original Crysis one in here at 4400 MHZ

Some trifire 5970+5850
8.663.1_Beta5_Hemlock_VistaWin7_Nov11 Drivers

First up Dirt2 ,now this bench I have no clue if its DX9 or DX11 its all over the place on FPS.1920x1200 ultra setting 8xMSAA


Crysis Island1920x1080 VeryHigh 8xMSAA 4400 MHZ not FPS diff really from 4000MHZ maybe a couple FPS avg.


Crysis Warhead 1920x1200 Enthusiast 0,2x,4x,8x Avalanche



Crysis Warhead 1680x1050 Enthusiast 0,8x Avalanche


Farycry 2 1920x1200 Ultra 4x


ResEvil5 1920x1200 MAXED Out


COP Stalker 1920x1200 DX11 Maxed OUt 4xMSAA



Only have one card now other one in the mail,looks great so far.
Well I been benching 5970,thought I post some here.

Single 5970 with Physx card 285 GTX

Sapphire OC edition ,not maxed out yet on clock.

Well the article on ANandt while informative does not seem to effect my 5970.

It's a 4.0GHz i7. 42 min/74 max fps @ x8 AA is hardly a score that should be considered bottle-necked for a 5970

2x aa 1600x900 I couldnt get 42 fps on a gtx 275 unless i was standing in a corner looking at the wall

pretty sad it takes a $600 video card to get those framerates on a game that was release in 2008

i know gta4 is heavy on the cpu but im curious to see how this card would help

Nice stuff dude, crysis must be buttery smooth at 4xAA, how loud is she @ 100% fan?

IMO your best bet with afterburner is to make a manual fan profile, so that up to maybe 50-60 degrees is pretty quiet, say 35-45% fan, but set it so by the time its say 80-90 degrees the fan is @ 100%

then you can bench away and not worry about it at all.

oh right thats why there is no difference in fps at 2x aa and 8xaa though his fps are lower with 4x, something isnt right there, I would bet a 4.5-5ghz oc on that i7 would yield different results when using aa whats the score got to do with it

I'm not saying the fps is bad, that doesnt mean its not bottle necked

what has the 42fps got to do with it ?? yes its some damn nice fps its the fact that there is no difference in fps at 2x and 8x aa which suggests to me a bottle neck.

I actually do not have a case or anything,knocked out a wall and made a desk,and hide the crap mostely.
Also have a 52 inch LCD hooked up,but never plugged back in yet since reformat .

@wolf Since I have the computer stuff out of the way its not loud to me,for all others well tobad lol.I actually doing make profiles for gaming the only way to do it.
Also I prefer my 3X285 setup for Crysis way better but heres a screen of the 5970.

Was not sure if AA was applied ingame so I checked and at 8x nice clean line 2Million Tris and 78 fps.OK for one card.

Your right theres is somewhat of a bottleneck or just plain messed up drivers,even on DX9 4x is same way too.

Heres the Kicker the single 5970 beats my 3x285 is alot of games .

Thanks man, glad you understand where I am coming from btw whats the max stable oc you can get on your i7 920 ? Anyway of bumping it up some and seeing if the results change ?

AS far as overclocking, I am not trying to get high numbers on games.
Tell ya what I have the Noctua NH-U12P SE,Not really made for OC,but I buy some HIGH CFM fans and try to do 4.6.
Should not be a problem I can boot that high with this chip.
AH maybe I can run a few benches without the fans,just turn off HT I guess.I will give it a shot after a few beers on the week end LOL.

Anyway of bumping it up some and seeing if the results change ?

If not you could just as easily bump the cpu down to see if the performance decreases to see if there is a bottleneck, then use that data to try extrapolate what the performance would be if you could bump it up a bit(although you would have to use good data which would require averaging multiple runs at various cpu speeds).

EDIT missed the above post, 4.6ghz? No need to extrapolate beyond that =o

Why was that negative? For air cooling those temps are amazing compared to the 48XX series and at a 1GHz OC no less. You saw them too, right?

LOL nice pun there.
The card for most people is really loud.For me I have my setup far away from my computer and I just have a wheel and monitor and speaker near me.Posted a pic a few post up.
I will post over in the other section when my second 5970 arrives no problem.

Added some 5970+5850 benches,still waiting on another 5970 but I think its not need,trifire seems like more FPS,then Quad.
