[rant]ok so i went on the hunt on here and a few other forums and was looking for an 8800GT. well on another forum the guy goes i have one make me an offer. so i thought to myself, when it launched it was $200/$250 its now obsolete and a 9800GT now costs $100 so i offered him $60 i figured it was a fair price well the dude got all offended caling me a low baller and saying he wouldnt sell it for a penny less than $90 shipped! BAH! another guy from a different forum said $80 shipped was the lowest he would go! for and OBSOLETE PIECE OF HARDWARE!! hell i would buy a 9800GT if i was looking to spend that much hell the 9800GTX+ is only around $140 i'd buy that, i wanted something to hold me off till taxes when im going i7 and GTX295's.I went on ebay bam! $60 shipped! i won me a nice new XFX 8800GT alpha dog edition! i think thats rediculous! tech people should know about the now a days value of obsolete tech stuff! hell i had a hard time selling my 4870's for $100 shipped and they smoked the 8800GT god! this type of stuff just irritates me.[/rant] i just had to get that out. has anyone else experienced something like this??

LOL, who really wanna buy a GTX 295 nowadays.
Its either a HD5k or wait for the Fermi.

The 8800GT is only for the guys that are looking to SLi their old card, so they can indeed rant up the price on that shit.
Because the thing about SLI is they need the exact same card.
Either way, there is no way on earth that I will buy a 8800GT for $90. :roll:

LOLz drivers suck either way for Multi-GPU setups.
So you are really not making an escape if you are getting a GTX 295.

I've failed to recognize which piece of hardware you are referring to as "obsolete".

295's are obsolete now anyway. Personally I would got ati 5xxx even if the drivers suck its still faster than anything else.

I've failed to recognize which piece of hardware you are referring to as "obsolete".

He's referring to the 8800GT.. which has the same GPU as the high-end GTX260M for laptops, and higher clocks to boot.

Ironic, isn't it?

Moving to the second topic, if overclocking101 hasn't had a nVidia card for 4 years, he'll be extremely disappointed with nVidia's drivers.

The GTX295 isn't more stable than two HD4870s in Crossfire.
However, the first BIG mistake was to hold two 512MB cards of those in Crossfire.

Of course the GTX295 will show a big difference in performance, but only because of the higher performing GPUs and the increased memory amount of 896MB. -> Not because of "better drivers".

However, it's a really bad choice to get a GTX295 nowadays.
ATI is offering DX11 cards with more bang for the buck, which will increase the performance distance to GT200 cards as time goes by (as DX11 titles come out, and they're coming out very fast).

Many people will always want more than what their hardware is worth, nearly unavoidable.

Makes me wonder why it took so long to sell my 9800GTs a couple months back @ $70.

9800GT was like 65 bucks a few weeks ago on the midnightbox, you probably just need some luck on finding deals. Remember that not all people are reasonable when selling old gears, one guy is still selling x850 agp for $400 on craigs :D

Yep, about $60-65 seems to be the "going rate" for 8800GTs recently, I got mine for $62 from a friend, good deal IMO, I looked on Ebay and they were all going for $75+. Regardless, still a good price for an inexpensive GPU for games/F@H (4-5.5k PPD). Really the best PPD/$ card for F@H currently.

LOL, the 8800Gt isant so obsolete...(its the same as a 9800GT) I tried to get one more on eBay for a friends comp to run SLI and the cheapest I could find the same card was $110.

I wouldnt be pissed the the guys calling you a low baller, there is probably someone that would pay $200 for one (not a good idea but there is someone somewhere )

LOL, $60 for a 9800GTX is a STEAL!

I was looking for a cheap skt 939 mobo (anything that works) to use in a comp I am giving away...I went on eBay and found an Asus mATX (basic entry level mobo) and its up to $51.55 and has 25 min to go (lol, its like a $10-20 mobo)

idw an ati card again their drivers suck!
Thats what I used to say too, but not any more, I run a pair of 5770s and they do quite nicely.

i was lucky to sell my 8800gt for 90$ a couple months ago on amazon, but it was like new from RMA. even then, you could have found a better deal on eBay.

I've sold some GPU's fairly cheap lately and it is because they're going to a fellow folder. I just sold 3 of my 8800GT's to P_O_S_PC and velvet wafer for $60 and $65 respectively which I think is the fair market value;)

I've also sold 2 GTX280 for $150 each and 2 9800GTX+ for $75 each:eek::D

Power Supply Dell brick w/ acer end end | Antec EW 650w |Antec SP 350w(upg.soon)
Software Windows 7 Ult. 64bit---->------->
I've sold some GPU's fairly cheap lately and it is because they're going to a fellow folder. I just sold 3 of my 8800GT's to P_O_S_PC and velvet wafer for $60 and $65 respectively which I think is the fair market value;)

I've also sold 2 GTX280 for $150 each and 2 9800GTX+ for $75 each:eek::D

thanks for the great deal but someone else made me a better one :D but yours was more then fair :toast:
