Lets say you had to buy now and can't wait for 58xx to be in stock for prices to go back down but you had enough money set aside for a 5870 at around MSRP. Which graphics card(s) would you get?

Rez is 1920x1200, current setup is 2x 4850 512mb (they will be staying in current rig)

New setup will be an i7 920.

well if you cant wait for the 5870s to come back in stock, two 5770s in crossfire pretty much give an equal performance and two 5750s are about as good as a 5850

5850 is my vote. Newegg.com has estimated to be in stock on Dec. 1st for about 20 seconds. so be ready.

5850 the 70 is a bit pricey for the small gain over a 5850

and why is 5770 crossfire equal to a 5850, oh wait the 5850 is like as powerful as a 4870x2 and the 5770 like a 4870 or sort of close

trust me its worth the wait for a 5850/70 especially since you have crossfire in your specs that is more than enough till its back in stock

5850 no doubt. After a while add a 2nd if need be.

There are cards going in stock tomorrow. That isn't too long of a wait? It would be silly to buy any 48xx series now. I'd much rather wait a few hours and get the 5850 over any 5750 CrossFire solution.

Getter to go for 1 big GPU (5850) than 2 small ones in crossfire. Multi-GPU scaling can be ugly in some cases.

I think I'm going to just get a 5770 in a couple days. After going through a couple reviews it's just as good as the GTX 275 I once had.. in a few months when BC2 comes out or AVP.. then I'll probbaly add another for xfire.

I would get a 5850 when it comes in. NO point in going down to a 4870 or anything like that. 5770 in crossfire would be a good choice as well
