what's the best drive diagnostic utility?

hey guys,

i recently got a CRC error on one of my drives while downloading a file and thought i might wanna run a proper check on the drive. might be logical or physical.

what tool is the absolute best out there? paid is fine.

Each company usually has it's own set of tools that work quite well.

Seatools is a good utility but I think it only works for seagate drives

It monitors your HDD for health status (SMART) along with temperature and also offers physical examination of your drive. Give it a try.

run the Error Scan, if you get red errors then the drive is faulty

does this work for windows 7 though. it's not stated in the OSes that the utility supports.

and which test should i be using? all the tests are failing a few seconds after they start. the generic tests and self tests all fail. perhaps it's because i'm using a usb drive?
