GeForce GT 230?

I was looking around the HP website and saw this:

The Nvidia GeForce GT 230, a card I've never heard of, not even in the OEM context. From the little info on the site, it says it has 1.5GB of memory... upon further investigation

It seems it uses DDR2 on a 192-bit bus. Does anybody have any more information on this card, it seems to be OEM only and there seems to be a few PCs out there with ones that come with it, but it isn't mentioned anywhere on Nvidia's GeForce page and only appears to be listed in the context of driver support

Looks similar too XFX 9600GSO, which used 96 shaders 192bit, 1.5GB of DDR2 ram. what surprises me is that the GT240 doesnt use the 192bit bus.. would of been nice, little more bandwith using GDD5

Hmmm, another rebrand perhaps? Regardless its strange that this card isn't on the Nvidia website

probably a GPU-Z bug in the rops(or it does have 6), its still not fixed i think but this card more than likely has 64sp.since the core is the GT218 it should have DX10.1 support too.

It can't be GT218, I have a GeForce 210 and it has 16 hardware shaders and 4 ROPS. The GT216 has 48 shaders/8 ROPS and the GT215 has 96 shaders/8 ROPS, so it might be GT215 based.

I'm confused by it too because its nowhere on nvidia's site and if it is 96 sp, it would make a good low power crunching card if it ever hit retail and costed like 50 bucks

It this card is truely 96sp and 192-bit it looks terribly like the original 9600GSO (G92) aka 8800GS.

Either way, this card will surely only have 8 ROPS, when the 9600 GT had 16. :shadedshu

As far as I know the first GT 230s are indeed G92 with 12 ROPs.... :respect:

Looks like they decided to swap chips again. :shadedshu

I looked at the dev id in the GPU-Z shot and its 0603

so far the cards that mainly have 06XX are all G92's
