recently my Samsung 226CW monitor decided it no longer wants to 'light up' (backlight issues) without kicking up a huge fuss & even then it will flicker & not even turn on a few times but once its on - then it stays on till i shutdown. I'm off to get a new monitor anyhoo.

a nice 23" as a christmas present to myself for all the hard work & blood ive shed working for the idiots @
Royal Mail
who seem to have taken the wrong step & lost its sense of direction in the sense that their staff are no longer seen of any value other then just slaves, at least to the many hardworkers who have to put up with bullying & harrasment from MANAGERS to pick up the pace because the other lazy fuckers in the area arent doing the job fast enough.

anyhoo - may i present my new monitor...

good stuff. Your backlighting issue sounds like a bad connection. Dont hesitate to take it apart and tinker with it.

yeah -I kinda guessed it was. I because its flickering, I think the whole light tube needs changing. but I know its part fried anyhoo - one day I was shifting the screen around & the plug accidently pulled to an angle where it caused sparks to fly & the screen to flash...theres a lesson to be learned here: 'when shifting your monitor around. ALWAYS make sure the power is turned off!!'

its a damn shame. that samsung was a real nice screen too!! It bought colour back into my life!! I was using a washed out old iiyama prolite 19/20" till i decided i wanted a bigger monitor!

I will crack it open when i got time & see if i can replace the backlight in it. I'l end up selling the screen to a mate anyway since I have this new one & I already have spare monitors.

we shall see!!!

but in the meantime...Hello 1920x1080!!!

200w halogen, I could 'easy bake' muffins while watching a movie.

Thought about switching it out with a brighter but more efficient light, but the screen came out of a 15", so it wasn't really worth it. Oh well, got some modification gratification from doing it! :D

Will have to see if I have any pics of it on.

With a 200w halogen, the color wasn't the best and could only have it on with the room completely dark. But it was a 1024x768 panel so the picture was decently sharp.

Can Google DIY projector for ideas. I used an old timely overhead projector as it was free. But some people have made some really nice projectors with 1080 panels, good lighting, adjustable focus, etc.
