I've got an itch to use some of my christmas money for upgrading my setup.
I would like to stay under 200€ for this.
Now which one would benefit me the most?

64GB Falcon II, SSD for 169€
80GB X25-M G2 SSD for 205€ (used would be great)
CORE 2 QUAD Q9550 for 240€ (used ones go for under 200€)
Corsair 850HX for 156€
Another Radeon 4870 512 for 90-100€

Note that my current PSU 12V dips under load to about 11.70V with one card.

The PSU is a very tempting option. The thing is, I've powered two 4870s with the one I have now, 12V was around 11.50 iirc, but the other card broke :(
I don't think it was the PSU that borke the card btw. It just artifacts like hell now, probably the VRM's or memory busted, they were running crazy hot.

I've got my eye on a used 4870 for around 90€ (it just came on sale on a Finnish forum), so the PSU might be a bit over my budget at the moment. At some point, I'll definitely change to a Corsair.

Nope, didn't get the receipt when I bought the card, and Visiontek wot RMA it without it. Trust me, I tried everything with them :shadedshu

I kinda liked havein two of the 4870s, now I don't want to change to f.ex. 58xx because I just got my wc loop parts, and that includes a block for the gpu.

Now if I get another 4870, I can put the one with poorer cooler under water, and maybe buy another block once they are on eol sale.

But yeah, I'd like the new PSU too, maybe I'd get that one sometime Jan/Feb. Gotta work some more :)

Edit: So no one thinks a quad would be any good? Or is it just that the PSU is more acute?

Save, your rig is good as it is, and when it is time to upgrade, you dont need to skimp as much.

Another reason why I buy BFG and MSI. ;)

I say nab the 4870 if you game, or the 80GB SSD/Quad if you do more crunching/encoding/editing.
